I have problem applying upgrades onlines and via mobile devices the last couple of days. No sure what the problems were.

I actually did like the PMUA site...but nothing can compared to the UnitedConnection software PMUA used to provide to us for free. Even in today's environemnt and user demands, those features would still be more user friendly than what we have today.

It would be nice to be able to see ticket fares (Y/J/F) all next to each other like many other airline sites.

Speaking of United connection, I still very much miss the old easysabre website. It was not user-friendly at all. But if you knew how to use it, it was the most powerful system around. It was replaced with easy to read, flashy, intuitive, glamour.

It will be probably late summer, and it will be worth waiting for.

I, too, would like to have the date of return updated to at least the date of departure. Many OAL's have sites with multiple dates available to scroll, too. Heck... Even Copa's site has that, and their site overall is terrible in most other ways.

What I hope they do is add functionality without losing any existing functionality. From their recent behavior, however, I'm not entirely confident that long term benefits will prevail over short term savings. Good, reliable programming is expensive. The complexity involved in designing a mega-airline site may have less immediate ROI than the current management's goals may permit.

Imagine how much they might gain in customer satisfaction if they actually led in terms of site functionality. Many of us are often in a hurry, so making the site easier than any other airline site would be HUGE in terms of overcoming some of the negative image they have earned of late. I only wish I believed they had that kind of long term vision.

Any more recent updates on a possible release date?

Are they still beta testing it? Seems years ago they were and some members were doing it. Or was that for the current site?

Roll it out now. I'm sure it will have issues. A perfect excuse Jeffy can add to his never-ending canon!

How about just getting the current one to work at 11PM-12PM EST on a business day. My coworker ran home to buy a ticket reserved until midnight and got "united.com is currently undergoing scheduled maintenance." Which of course in IT parlance means the website suffered a catastrophic meltdown. They know people use this website to try and pay them money right. And that the Delta and AA websites have been up for the last two hours. The BOD needs to come to grips with the fact that their CEO has terrible taste, is not detail oriented and has the worst IT management in the industry with the possible exception of Turkish Airlines.

Um, there actually was a scheduled maintenance window at 11 p.m. Central time which was even communicated to some customers in advance : http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...e-tonight.html

(I did not get this e-mail.)

I'm fairly sure your coworker will be able to ticket their held reservation if they ask nicely; UA reservations should make allowances for their planned outage.

Some screen shots of what is likely the new website in July's Hemispheres' Voices column (page 12) covering a UA software designer.
