We are on the same flight Raybolt for EWR-HKG…I booked maybe 6 weeks ago and it cleared at booking with plenty of R available. I just looked now and most of the BF cabin is also open.

I'm coming back to SFO in a similar way just the day before!

It's amazing how small the world is sometimes. I think the flightwas still R9 today; it seems like there is lots of availability on the EWR-Asia flights. Meeting at one of the lounges at EWR seems to be in order (as long as nothing changes). We are in 2K and L as of now it looks like, but don't know if that will remain.

Sorry for dragging this thread OT

And a day later the HKG-SIN segment is showing as cleared now.

DEN-ORD sUA 757
ORD-BRU sUA 777
(BRU-BCN/MAD-BRU on Brussels Airlines)
BRU-ORD sUA 777
ORD-DEN sUA 757

September 2014

W class to BusinessFirst (First on domestic flights)

Cleared at booking - three seats.

Updated to add that a few weeks ago there was a schedule change, making our connection in ORD six hours and 25 minutes in order to keep our upgraded seats. I accepted the change but requested that I be able to make another change if I saw R space open up on an earlier ORD-DEN flight. The other day I saw R4 on an ORD-DEN flight at 3:10 p.m., and was able to easily and quickly make the switch and keep the upgrades. So now we have a much nicer two hour and 20 minute connection in ORD; new aircraft ORD-DEN is a 757-300.

Excited to head back to Spain!

3/22 LH756 FRA-BOM C->F (paper upgrade).

Of course, as awesome as it is to upgrade on LH with GPUs, their constant strikes and work stoppages at FRA make me very hesitant to use them.

flt 840 syd to sfo didn't clear. U class, I was second on list. biz completely full. last year same route cleared 4 of 4 times. Previously, the only reason I've been flying United on this route is because of GPU upgrades.

This thread is for GPU "success." Please post failures here: gpu-failure-report-2014

FRA-IAD Cleared at Booking [01 April 2014] (the only reason I booked it) for 20 April 2014, originally W class

2 SWUs that I had extended from January 2014 (acquired with 1K from last year)

This was applied on my ticket (as roughly the only UA segment - once again, on purpose) with my wife and infant daughter...

Everything else on our itinerary is AC/TK/LH except for the FRA-IAD segment...I have the SWUs, but I still do not want to set foot on any UA plane unless I have to!

Good luck to everyone in the new year.

Consider posting:
1. Route
2. Date
3. Fare class
4. Y-C or C-F
5. How many days/weeks in advance
6. How many days before departure did it clear

Tried to book IAH-SYD / AKL-IAH today almost a year out. Tried GPU and Miles choices. Nothing available on any flight! UA asking $12K for BF while most of the other carriers are $9K. Since I am buying 4 tickets, guess who I'm not flying.

not surprising that R is not available >300 days out, nor that BF fares are pricing high that far in advance.

fly NZ and don't look back if you are paying cash for J. way better experience.
