Early "CPU Requested"

As a 1K I have noticed that the "Complimentary Premier Upgrade Requested" notation in my reservation has been appearing well before the 96 hour mark.

Anyone care to venture a guess as to why this is happening?

Noticed the same thing for the Gold at 48 hours. It's probably SHARES just acting funny again.

RealFan Nov 28, 2013 9:50 am

Noticed the same thing yesterday for GS flights late next week. I am unsure as well.

Is this happening with eastbound redeye's? 24 hours early? If so, its known. My wife has a few times (and I think me, once) CPU'd 24 hours sooner than normal due to this.

hockey7711 Nov 28, 2013 9:58 am

Mine is for both SFO-DEN, and DEN-LGA
It also happened a few weeks ago.
The SFO-DEN didn't clear (#1 on list)
And the DEN-LGA cleared at OLCI.

Yep. CPU scheduler runs on Central time, and gets confused if your departure is on different days in (1) local time at the departure airport, and (2) Central time. Canonical example is redeye flights from Hawaii, but anywhere in Pacific/Mountain time can produce it if your departure is after midnight Central.

As a Silver the other day I noticed it was "Requested" more than 24hrs before my flight.

I do think I recently had an early switch to cpu requested that couldn't be explained this way. But my itineraries since haven't had it.

If I am reading you correctly, you are saying your requested appear earlier than expected.
Oddly enough , mine appears immediately upon ticketed. In fact, booked on a flt for Jan.22 and it is there on my itinerary in blue highlight. Of course just requested, not confirmed.

Just checked again, it is on all three of my reservations, first one on Dec. 14th, then Jan. 10, and Jan 22. Its a blue arrow and if you click it , it shows cpu request. I am now 1k, but also had it when I was gold. Hope this works for you.

There are two blue + arrow notification icons. One appears on the upper left of your flight, has mouse-over text "Eligible for Complimentary Premier Upgrade", and should appear at booking. The other (which is the subject of this thread) appears below your flight, says "Complimentary Premier Upgrade Requested", and only appears within your window (to indicate that you have not actually received a CPU).

"Complimentary Premier Upgrade Requested"

It showed up earlier than 96 hours in advance. (CPU-1K)
Has anyone else seen this?

cblaisd Jan 25, 2014 8:53 am

Yes..

hockey7711 Jan 25, 2014 9:07 am

It has happened in the past...usually I wind up not getting upgraded or just barely get it.

villox Jan 25, 2014 9:55 am

This also happened to me on a recent MSY-ORD flight, so this is NOT the midnight bug.

I was upgraded right at T-96 but the arrow appeared I think a day early.

mgcsinc Jan 25, 2014 9:57 am

If it's a normal day flight, it now shows up early as a matter of course, but you won't actually get the upgrade until the sweep. If it's a flight that departs after midnight Houston time, then you'll be eligible 24 hours early.

I have a flight on Monday (48 hours away) I'm 1K and I see that the eligible and requested banners. On the website I see that the flight status is available and that 10 people have been upgraded and it looks like one seat isn't booked yet.

Why are these people listed- they can't have checked in yet? The upgrade wait list isn't populated yet.

Looks like I'll be 0-2 on CPUs this year. I'm hoping the 1K rolls get purged on the 1st of Feb and I get better luck. I earned 1K for the first time this year and I was hoping for better than just moving higher up the upgrade list.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 7_0_4 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/537.51.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/7.0 Mobile/11B554a Safari/9537.53)

Happened on my flights (both outbound and return) last week. Of course, all 3 segments didn't clear so it didn't matter in the end...

The people on the upgrade are those who may have used instruments or miles to upgrade and their upgrades went through. Happened to me many times when I have used instruments to upgrade.

Lots of people are using up the upgrades that expire 1-31-14. UA has made ths fairly easy as I am seeing lots of R space this month for domestic flights.
