I'm 2/3 on domestic flights so far this year. I surprisingly cleared ORD-IAH & IAH-ORD as Gold. I have 3 more segments in 2 weeks, but my expectations are low.

Or am I not getting what you are saying? Just cleared CPU SFO- SEA today, a 757 with lots of upgrades... |

Are you complaining that CPU's are now clearing?

No, I'm not complaining. I'm suggesting to MatthewLAX that his upgrades probably cleared because of the added flights, since I gathered from his post he was pleasantly surprised his upgrades cleared (including for a companion.)
But surely you are correct in that this has something to do it with. I've cleared other routes to, though! |

I know the increased service to kill Virgin has something to do with it, but I've opted for more LAX-EWR-LAX flights lately and I suspect other elites too--they are cheaper and more readily available. My flights have all been full (above 85% I'd say) so the new service is brining in more passengers and I have to guess more elites.

Award saver ticket OW (I'm a UA Club Visa cardholder), 2 segments, including SFO-LAS on a Friday night...
both segments CPU cleared! |

Keep in mind, quite often those on YBM fares do change flights on day of departure and get upgraded instantly due to fare basis.
That is part of the reason why we see the upgrade list remain unchanged but a new person pops up on the cleared list. (Edit) I've had this happen to me on twice so far this year on SDCs from SFO-SNA. |
CPUs improving ?
Hey guys! Quick question.. It's been months since i used a regional upgrade for LAX-IAD flight. It's an A319 aircraft and I know that I won't have a chance for CPU on this flight.. However I've been wait listed for upgrade using RPU. My question is -- does your wait list position matter whether you're using GPU, RPU, or CPU? I remember it didn't matter if you're within CPU time (100 hours) as status ruled the upgrade game pre-merger. Is this still true in the current system? If it is, I think it will just be beneficial for me if I take out my RPU from my wait list, yes?

No difference between GPU/RPU/miles but CPU is lower priority. |
CPUs improving ?
I have been getting passed over when at t-24 there are 4 open seats and I am number 2 on the list
The list never changed and the seats disappear either for TOD upgrades or misconnects It is happening more and more on my lax to ewr routes |

I'm more so LAX based ; my CPU rate is 75%.
My coworkers in/out of SFO are 20% ; one of them is even a GS and he has worse upgrades clear than I have out of LAX. I was LAX-YVR on UA (Express); I cleared about 72 hours out; my co-worker on a higher fare SFO-YVR with GS status was #6 on the Upgrade list with only 2 seats open... Our guys out of IAH complain of the same

They won't show up on the cleared list because they bought the higher fare on the other flight, but their fare was (roughly) equivalent to the First fare on the new flight, so their seat in first wasn't an upgrade.

well, had an itinerary this weekend i needed to cancel due to illness -- cleared CPU right at the 48 window on 3/4 flights of course (missed SFO-IAH). hopefully this trend carries into next week.

not worth the 15k miles but sure is tempting. |
