MileagePlus Dining from UA?

Hello Everyone,

I am new to these programs and most recently I am on UA's but I also signed up for their Dining program. Has anyone used them or using them to gain or aquire points ?

Much appreciate your feedback and input. Thank You.

Welcome to Flyertalk.

Many of us use the MileagePlus Dining program. It is a pretty painless way to earn some additional miles.

Be aware that these are only redeemable miles...they do not count toward any type of elite status.

Using the search function, you will find several discussions regarding the program....such as http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...us-dining.html

My experience has been pretty good with them. Miles post accurately, though sometimes delayed a bit.

I actually did the search after i posted and it seems some people have problems... okay, thank you for that information, much appreciated.

I've used them also with no problems. If I'm going to get something as simple as a pizza, might as well get some miles also. It's also a way from keeping your miles from expiring. Every time you add any miles to your account, the clock is reset.

I have used it for years. I earn a few hundred to a 1000 or so miles a year. I never go out of my way to eat at a place (had two real close to me that were places we ate regularly and both left in the last few months). However, I still randomly stumble onto them from time to time.

I must eat out too much. I racked up over 6000 points last year.

It's hard to cook on the road though (maybe I should stay at a Hyatt House).

The program Works great and no complaints here.

I use it all the time

whenever i hit the hotel, before going out i check and see if there is anything close by that looks like something i want. if so, i go. if not, i dont...no big deal. make sure and add all cards that you and (if applicable) spouse/kids might use, so any time they g out you might get a hit.

never had a problem with the miles posting.

Great Information

Thank you so much for your tips and suggestions. Much Appreciated.

I actually did add my two cards that I use, and hope to just try new places and old one's and hope I get miles.

Thanks.

I use this all the time!

My wife's favorite restaurant near her old house in Charlotte was a 3 for 1 place, this is a great easy way to rack up miles.

Looks like I have to give it another look because I could never find any restaurants I go to that would be in the program. Question for people who use it all the time: does the restaurant availability change much throughout years?

I would probably say that the turnover is about 10-15% on an annual basis. I spend about half of my days a year on the road and I use this often (about 25% of my meals). Some areas have very few places, some others more. I rarely stay at "full service" hotels for business trips (I prefer the amenities of places like Homewood Suites) so I do not have the option of room service and this is pretty good some times, if you happen to be in a location with plenty of options. Otherwise it can get pretty boring pretty quickly if you dine mostly in their restaurants. It is managed by idine (google it) and I never had issues with points or bonuses appearing in the account (usually within a month)
Idine manages the same service for several frequent flier programs and a credit card can be only in one program. The one thing I do, is to have one credit card registered in my AAdvantage program and use it once every blue moon (there is a BK by my home participating) just to keep those miles from expiring.

Good luck

I'm signed up but use it about once a year. In the Bay Area the restaurants are dominated by ones which need the promotion in order to get customers: I'd rather eat somewhere I want to eat. So, my once a year is simply a case of stumbling across one on a random basis.

MileagePlus Dining from UA?

I looked some time ago but thought the restaurant selection limited. Why not just use the Sapphire or similar card and eat anywhere for 2x miles?

You can register nearly any credit card and earn Mileage Plus miles for dining IN ADDITION to the miles normally earned on the credit card. So there is no reason not to sign up. In addition to the 60-100 points I earn every few weeks there are occasional promotions that can add quite a few extra miles.

Why not do both? :)

You'll get miles and Ultimate Rewards for the same meal. Throw in an Open Table reservation and eventually you can get a gift cert as well! Plus redeem your Groupon for the meal as well.
