This past Wednesday I flew the 11:35am MIA-IAD flight. The check-in counter had signs saying that check-in opens at 10am. Strange. A few weeks ago I was able to check-in way before 10am.
The rightmost check-in unit (for first class) has a touch screen which is not working. Thus, first class pax must wait (and wait and wait) for a UA person to check the pax in. This same check-in unit was not working a few weeks ago when I tried to use it. The CO-UA integration should hopefully make MIA function better...? |
what is going on in MIA?
I thought I would refresh this topic...
Does anybody have any legit information about when exactly they will be moving CO out of terminal G at MIA? Also, you think a potential new United Club might be in the works? FLL is great, but simply too far, especially with unpredictable traffic. I'm really hoping with the merger, something good will come to MIA. Hopefully somebody on this forum has insight into MIA post-merger plans... |
I was at MIA yesterday afternoon catching the ORD flight. I asked the F check-in counter agent (she's been working out of MIA for a long time. Great agent!) about the potential move back to J. She told me she has not heard about moving back to J, but did hear about getting check-in counter space from Panama Air (closer to the G security check point).
I did fly into FLL on CO this week, and saw there was a United Club there. Perhaps I should fly more out of FLL. Hope there is a future IAD-FLL or ORD-FLL in the works (if not already) |

I'm currently sitting in the Budweiser brew house, laughing at what is a dilapidated ....house of a terminal. I think I've finally found a UA terminal that is measurably worse than the embarrassment that is the IAD C/D terminal.
I can't believe United is here voluntarily - the airport authority must be paying Jeff to operate out of this cesspool. The only upside to G is no lines at the TSA storm trooper post. No nudeoscopes in operation, either. |

No scanners? They had them for sure in March, and I think in May.

I mean Miami is an American Airlines fortress and United wants little or nothing to do with that airport.
I find this laughable how concerned people are with the UA post merger operation in Miami. the only service that will ever be operated out of MIA is to feed pax into the hubs. I have to ask why would people expect UAL to invest in terminal improvements for a little spoke on the big hub and spoke system. Last time I was at Miami International airport i thought it was one of the worst airports I have ever flown through . Its Ulgy, Old and yea but in regard to the post merger plans expect nothing and therfore you can't be disappointed :) PMUA uses all regional jets into MIA CO uses 737's my guess is we will see some equipment changes. It all depends on whether UAL wants to take the fight to AA...... on a personal level I hope they do and clean AA's clocks |

I agree. Yeah the J gates are nicer looking, but at the end of the day it is just a place to sit an wait for the flight.
To be fair, the AA gate areas are all updated and actually quite nice. Once they have the air tran running to the rental car center it will get better. The train to the rental car center has been running for a while. MIA's G concourse is a dump, and so is F, but the rest of the airport is one of the nicest airport facilities in the country bar none. |
UA/CO merger...future south florida hub?
I travel frequently EWR-MIA, and I'm quite surprised that even with the merger the limited amount of routings from the Miami area. FLL does offer additional options, but non-stop options west towards LAX/SFO or south to the Carribean almost always require connections through IAH.
I know AA dominates the MIA market, but does anybody have any info regarding potential expansion of MIA routings? How can an airline this big afford not to capatilize in this market area... |
