I guess the second option would have some advantages in terms of *A integration, but it also would require bringing a third carrier (AA) into the process and requiring that they move around infrastructure. Swapping gates probably isn't as easy as just moving some signage--I assume it also requires relocating a lot of a carrier's "behind the scenes" infrastructure and I don't see a compelling reason AA would want to do that just to help bring the *A carriers together. |

I hope people like the old historic terminal at DCA, I heard that UA will be transitioning its operation over to the CO gate area at DCA in the border of A and B....
Naturally the UA RCC would close and the lounge would be what is currently the CO presidents club...... interesting anything have any thoughts or views on this or heard anything different? |

Whatever else, getting the PC is great. When I was an NW flyer I used to love my CO flights because I got to use the PC -- the old first class dining room in the historic terminal.
And I guess with the DL-US swap, DL could give up the gate it share on the walk to the CO gates. |

Actually, given the rumored changes to MP, you could almost argue that UACO is going out of its way to dissuade people from flying other *A carriers (other than some JV partner routes). They may want to make it as hard as possible to substitute US for their own metal. |

I heard the IAD metro station was going to be above ground - like the stations through Tyson's Corner.

You clearly haven't spent much time in the DC area in summer. Walking outside for even 1/4 mile would be torture.

Really? I live here. For 20 years. And I know IAD better than you, because I know that the elevated Metro station would likely use the existing underground walkway already in place from one of the parking garages.
Still, I just would like to see them get the thing built before hell freezes over. |

I use IAD quite a bit too. I think the underground Metro location would have been much more convenient - I really hope they make the pathway considerably better than it is now, since it's decidedly awkward to arrive at the airport with luggage via the Daily Garage and have to get it up to the check-in desks.
Still, I just would like to see them get the thing built before hell freezes over. The Metro station at DCA isn't underground, and I don't hear many people complaining about it. |
