I'm actually kinda hoping it stays there and I have to call them a few more times. I need some more e-certs... Honestly. Charge an erroneous fee, not have any record of it, and then ask the customer to fix the problem? Losers. |
Surely you just dispute the charge with your creditcard company at this point though ?

Must be one of those changes they think I'll like... |
Just an update. I purchased 2 tickets on Thursday June 16, 2011. Received "close in" fee email about 5 mins after payment was made through paypal. Contacted United, was told to email a refund request but that they don't post payments for 24 hours so they would catch most of them. This morning Paypal posted the 2 $75.00 fees. According to paypal, much like a restaurant that runs your bill and adds on tip later, United initially charged the ticket price and added on a $75.00 fee. Apparently, paypal isn't as safe against unauthorized transactions as I had believed.
I just happened to check my paypal for an ebay purchase and noticed the charges. Of course, paypal immediately held the funds from going to United....however, those funds are not available to me yet. United response...we're working as fast as we can.....right....5 days later, no response to my June 16th emails to refunds or customer relations. No one who can give me any real info is talking to customers, I just keep hearing..7 to 10 BUSINESS days. I don't complain much, but this is ridiculous. Don't often fly United, don't plan on doing it again anytime soon. |
I was charged the $75 on June 15th and the charge was reversed today.

I got charged the erroneous close in fee on an ecert redemption on 6/16 an it still hasnt been reversed. Are we meant to apply for a refund? In addition to the cust svc call I already made?

I was charged the fee on the 20th, the charge went through, and United certainly has not reversed it.
|
Got it too after purchasing a flight on Sat June 18. Annoying. Charge posted but sent an email to [email protected] per the 1k line. We'll see how long this takes...

UA needs some extra money or what? why they're doing this? |
Per United, they refunded my charges on the 20th, 4 days after I was initially notified of the $75.00 fees. It is now the 22nd and there is no sign of the refund on my account. This is ridiculous!!!
