FAQ 4: Flying with Turkish Airlines: lounges, aircraft, routes, baggage Turkish Airlines (TK) is the national airline of Turkey. It's headquarters are at Atatürk Airport which is also its main hub. It operates scheduled services to 203 international and 41 domestic cities (38 domestic airports), serving a total of 200 airports, in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. Fleet
TK currently operates around 200 passenger aircraft in a mixed fleet of Airbus and Boeing aircraft.
Airbus A319-100 Airbus A320-200 Airbus A321-200 Airbus A330-200 Airbus A330-300 Airbus A340-300 Boeing 737-400 Boeing 737-700 Boeing 737-800 Boeing 737-900ER Boeing 777-300ER Seats and inflight classes To check the seat plans for each aircraft click on the links above. Note some aircraft may have more than one version. Note: Seats, especially business class seats, differ across the fleet and are subject to change. Short, mid and long haul operate in a two class (economy and business class) configuration. Economy class: Seats are standard economy seats with varying pitch, largely around 31". TK provides free catering in economy class on all flights, including free alcoholic drinks (not domestic). 737/319/320/321(old): picture 737-800s/737-900: picture 321(new): picture 330-200: picture 340-300: picture 330-300: picture 777-300: picture Business class: Business class seats are either recliner seats or flat beds depending on the aircraft. Flat bed seat pitch is 78" with a 177 degree recline. 737/319/320/321(old): picture or picture 321(new)/737-800s/737-900: picture 330-200: Angled flat: picture 340-300: Angled flat: picture 330-300: Flat bed: picture 777-300: Flat bed: picture First class: TK no longer offers first class. Lounges
TK's flagship lounge at IST is the International CIP Lounge. Watch a video of the lounge here.

In some cases a third party local contract lounge is being used. The Star Alliance lounge finder is a handy tool to find the right lounge. Lounges can only be accessed when departing on a same day Star Alliance flight. |
Routes
TK operates flights to more than 200 destinations.

Baggage
TK operates the following adult checked (hold) baggage allowances:
Domestic flights: Economy: 20kg Business: 30kg Unlimited pieces not exceeding total limit above. International flights: Economy: 20kg Comfort: 20kg Business: 30kg Unlimited pieces not exceeding total limit above. Flights originating/terminating in North and South America, Nigeria and Senegal: Economy: 2 pieces not exceeding 23kg each Comfort: 2 pieces not exceeding 23kg each Business: 2 pieces not exceeding 32kg each Star Alliance Gold customers get 20kg extra or one piece extra in all service classes. Details including infant rules are here Hand (cabin) luggage: Economy: 1 piece, max weight 8kg, max dimensions 23x40x55 cm Comfort: 1 piece, max weight 8kg, max dimensions 23x40x55 cm Business: 2 pieces, max weight 8kg each, max dimensions 23x40x55 cm Note: Rules may differ when interlining with another airline. |
Stopover at IST

Also, there is 1 ex-QR A330 on lease where J/C has angled flat seats with IFE and Y without. This a/c usually flies to mid-haul routes with the occasional flight to DEL. The narrow-body fleet (737/319/320/321) have many different seating configurations. Therefore one should not rely on seatguru for seat selections. The new A321s/B737-800s and B737-900s come with the new narrow-body J/C product that offers Comfort seats (including IFE in both J and Y) in leather. The delivery of these a/c are ongoing. I hope my post hasn't been too confusing... |

Business class passengers and *Gs can use Star Alliance *G lounges at other destinations. In some cases a third party local contract lounge is being used. Thanks |
