TSA Touchless ID Issues
I am a frequently flyer into and out of ATL. I have PreCheck and have opted in to Touchless ID with both Delta and United. I get Touchless ID for every flight with Delta but only get regular PreCheck when I fly with United. I get some form of PreCheck with every flight out of ATL and always use the South Checkpoint as a result, but the type differs when I fly with Delta and United. When I asked United about this, they told me it has nothing to do with them and it is a TSA issue and I should contact TSA, but I never have any issue with Delta. Does anyone know how to deal with/fix this? Since I am always getting PreCheck regardless of which airline I am on, I'm assuming this isn't an issue with my KTN. Thanks in advance for anyone who can provide insights as to how I might be able to fix this.
PS: If there is a thread for this, I didn't see it in search. So please accept my apologies if this needs to be merged somewhere else. |
Make sure you're opted in to Touch less ID in your United profile and your passport information is up to date. Otherwise not sure there's much you can do, touchhless seems a bit hit or miss right now

Yep - up to date passport is on both my United and Delta account and I'm opted in with both airlines. Guess I'll just have to play wait and see with United.

Bouncing this thread as I just became aware of Touchless ID. SAN, my home town airport, isn't participating yet. Hopefully it will - and in the mean time, I might be returning from a participating airport.

TSA Precheck Touchless ID with kids
Anyone have any experience using TSA Precheck Touchless ID when travelling with kids? Will they let you use it if you have a minor on your PNR?

And that your name on the passport and profile exactly match. AA wouldn't enable touchless ID because my AA profile has always had just a middle initial on it.
However, on my last two AA trips, I suddenly started getting the Touchless indicator, so I assume that somewhere in the data chain something has gotten more relaxed about name matching. Between this and other well-documented issues with things like credit acrd points transfer to airlines/hotels, etc. I will once again repeat my advice to expecting parents and spouses-to-be, don't hyphenate, you or your children will thank me later :p |
I was able to get Touchless activated for UA,WN, and AA. DL seems to want me to scan or enter passport data upon checking in for a flight, rather than scanning the passport on my phone. I guess I will take my passport next time I fly and see if I can get this accomplished. I just scanned my passport in November to check in to Frankfurt, but apparently that wasn't good enough.

Also make sure that your name in your profile exactly matches the passport. I had problems with American Airlines because my profile only had my middle initial (it had been that way since forever apparently). It started working after I went through AA's arcane procedure to get them to put my full name in.

I signed up for Touchless ID in my AA and AS profiles. However, if you use your AA FF# on a AS flight, you won't get Touchless ID. Given that Touchless ID is really a service of the TSA, it seems your enrollment in the program should be tied to your KTN, not your FF profile. Maybe that will change as the program evolves.

(And for that matter, I'd rather store it with the airline than TSA too . . . but not looking to start that debate). |

Given AA won't load upcoming flights booked thru AA but crediting AS I am not surprised at all... |
