ArriveCAN vs NEXUS
Last time I entered Canada a few months ago I used the ArriveCAN app and the entry process in a separate hall was very quick. Now I have received a NEXUS card and am wondering if ArriveCAN is still needed and what the smoothest way to enter Canada will be?

I think it depend on the where you enter. I have used the ArriveCAN declaration a few times to enter YVR - I believe it was mandatory during Covid - and I've found it of limited value. There are no express lanes that I saw - you go the the kiosks along with everyone else but you save maybe 30 seconds not having to enter your declaration again. But after you get the receipt you line up with everyone else in one long line. So there Nexus might be faster and worth having.

The last time I entered at YYZ, the nexus kiosks were dumping people into the back of the line behind the standard machines. Non-nexus members of my party made it through 15 minutes faster than I did. A lot of Nexus members where seeing this, turning around and heading to the standard lines.
Luck of the draw these days.

I went to the Express area and there were Nexus machines with few items to enter. I was also asked to insert my new passport to update the picture. Strangely enough even with all the automation we still have to stop at Customs agent and show a pile of paper. European entry is much faster.
