US/Canadian-issued ABTC can only be used to access the APEC/Crew/Diplomat lane. It does not replace/waive any visa requirements. Chinese embassy webpages mentioning visa not being required is for ABTC with CHN endorsed on the back. No US/Canadian-issued ABTC will have that endorsement.
The button to renew your US/Canadian ABTC will appear in your profile 30 days before the card expiration date.

Hi,
I recently applied for global entry and spec business travel card and completed my interview at AmCham in Singapore (one of few places you can do it outside usa)
A global entry card was sent to my us address but no abtc. Is the global entry card and the abtc the same physical card or should I have received two cards?

Was it AmCham or US Embassy, because according to this post the OP got it through the US Consulate (although I think he/she means the US Embassy in Singapore):

1. Can USA citizens but non residents get the card?
2. If so process is get global entry and then apply for APEC?
3. Still need visas, e.g. for China

I used my ABTC for a few months, never ran into any problem. However, an immigration officer at counter said to me, US issued ABTC is no longer good to use APEC express lane in Tao Yuan International Airport, as I do not have a pre-clearance, and Taiwan was not listed in the back of the card. In fact, no country was listed in the card, blank I should say. Tried to explain it to the officer, he's just not interested in my statement. He was "mercy" enough to allow me using it thru express lane today, and reiterated U.S. issued card is no good to use express lane next time. This never occurred to me in any other countries.. Any one run into this issue?

Sent a message to apec.org's email contact us address for ABTC asking why Taiwan is rejecting use of the card for line expediting. Suggest others do the same. Sounds like someone has taken action without knowing that NO ONE is trying to enter Taiwan using this as a visa as US Citizens are visa free anway.
See if I get a response.
BTW: Contact info is here: under Business Mobility group; I pinged the contact with the Apec.org address not the rep handling from the Australian side who in on the committe... may hit him next

My understanding is that the American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore has been hosting interviews for ABTC. Please see below:
http://www.amcham.org.sg/amcham-host...rd-interviews/
http://www.amcham.org.sg/amcham-host...rd-interviews/
On another note, I see the following statements from the APEC summit in Beijing:
From the APEC summit:
"We commit to continue expanding the number of holders of the APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC) and to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of ABTC scheme."
"We support the End-to-End Review of the present APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC) Scheme, and remain committed to its further improvement and development with our concerted efforts. We welcome the in-principle agreement to extend the validity of the ABTC to 5 years. We appreciate the endeavors of transitional members of the ABTC Scheme to become full members."

Suggest in interim use this service which has worked for me in Taiwan before: https://oa1.immigration.gov.tw/nia_freq
This can be issued instantly as long as you had 3 entries in last 12 months (it will do a compare to what Taiwan has on your passport #)

2) That is correct.
3) Yes, at this time the U.S. ABTC card does not operate as a visa, so you will still need to apply separately for visas to China.

Are you friends permanent residents of Hong Kong? If so, then they can apply to the Hong Kong government for the HK ABTC card. This would be more useful than the U.S. card, because it would provide visa-free access to China, Viet Nam, etc.

Although, the Business Mobility Group does not meet again until January or February, so they may not be able to take action before then.

I know both of those individuals. They should already be aware that U.S. cardholders are experiencing difficulty using the fast lanes in some economies, because I mentioned in our report that this is an issue that needs to be resolved.
