PRG-LHR-PHX on 747 Upper Deck

Continued from here.

I think that there's not a chance to fly on 747 upper deck every day (well, some of you might have the honour), so here's a little photo trip report.

It seems that BA has some troubles with the butter.

:)

Nice picture report PeS. So what was your opinion of BA?

TEX277 Jun 5, 2007 9:47 am

Some great photos in there! I trust that you thoroughlt enjoyed the experience!

I thing that did catch my eye was the cockpit photo. I noticed KenF managed to get on the flightdeck (LH 744) the other day too. I have asked onboard several flights recently upon various carriers to visit the cockpit at the end of the flight and have been politely refused everytime. The reason give was '11th Sept' and 'security'. I asked on SQ, after being refused access myself, if the FA would be so kind as to take a picture in there for me. The captain refused this too citing security policy.

What am I doing wrong???

Petrus Jun 5, 2007 9:49 am

Whats is up with the butter!? ;)

Nice report. Made me smile. :)

Butter was on all meals either frozen (=unable to spread) or missing at all :)

PhilH Jun 5, 2007 10:29 am

Yes this was a nice report. I've also found the same problem with the butter, but never thought to mention it in any of my reports! Your comments made me smile! :)

Not a fruit cocktail, but simple OJ. Good enough for CE according to BA :(

Neither me, but when it happens six times in four flights, it's memorable :)
But this was my first BA flight, as I describe here, so maybe I only expected my usual level of service ;)

Maybe you shouldn't ask Halal as special meal request ;)
Or maybe I just have a peaceful face :)

I don't understand it - there are thousands of cockpit pictures available. The whole security concept is silly IMHO.
For example - you are not allowed to take more than one hand baggage. Does anyone see any security reason for this?
Or they won't allow to take toothpaste or manicure scissors with you - but you get metal cutlery on board.

Another example: as citizen of NATO country, but not good enough ;) I needed to apply for US visa to be able to enter the US soil.
In forms there are questions like:
Do you seek to enter the United States to engage in export control violations, subversive or terrorist activities, or any other unlawful purpose?
Have you ever participated in persecutions directed by the Nazi government of Germany; or have you ever participated in genocide?
Have you ever unlawfully distributed or sold a controlled substance(drug), or been a prostitute or procurer for prostitutes?
Can you imagine anyone answering YES?
This was quite difficult to me:
List All Countries You have Entered in the Last Ten Years (Give the Year of Each Visit)

But there was also quesiton
Do You Have Any Specialized Skills or Training, Including Firearms, Explosives, Nuclear, Biological, or Chemical Experience?
Well, being voluntary fireman, my answer was - yes, all of them excluding firearms :)

Nice report and cool pics!

I thought the breakfast on your PHX-LHR could've been better. Just croissant and fruit? Where's the egg and sausage? :p

My_head_is_spinning Jun 5, 2007 2:00 pm

Those first three windows downstairs were mine on that flight from LHR-PHX!

Vaclav Jun 5, 2007 3:30 pm

Wonderful photo report! I need to learn how to post/upload pictures. Any quick course available around here?

P.S. I usually fly in the opposite direction, ending in PRG. My flights are on *A and Air Canada has butter. Perhaps you'd like to switch?

stngfn Jun 5, 2007 9:12 pm

Skymap typo?

Thanks for posting the wonderful photo report..

Is it me, or does the Skymap on the LHR-PHX pictures (the one after dessert :D ) spell Phoenix as Fenix? Someone should tell BA they should proofread their maps ;)

It's not a typo - Skymap was running in two language versions (EN & ES) - no possibility to switch, but languages were rotating. So it seems I incidentally made a picture of Spanish Skymap.
