Just adding my own thanks JapesUK

I always enjoyed your trip reports and admired your determination to shake things up lifestyle wise post Covid. Hopefully we will still see you on the Friday thread.

Massive thanks for all the entertaining trip reports, JapesUK. You write really well, the destinations have been inspiring and it was particularly good to have someone travelling and writing from a North East England base. There’s some phrase about ‘always leave them wanting more’ that feels appropriate - good to go out on a high and before it becomes a chore for you. Huge thanks again.

Have thoroughly enjoyed reading many of your trip reports having only found this corner of flyertalk recently. We are about to start embarking on a quest to tick off the European countries we are yet to visit so I will be diving into your back catalogue for inspiration on any of those we are yet to do.

Indeed, many thanks for sharing your journeys. I suspect for most of us it will be a case of not realising how much we appreciated something until it's no longer there. I hope the "something else" is a positive rather than a negative development in your life, but either way best wishes going forward. Thanks again.

Thanks for the reporting to all of those off the beaten path locales. Much appreciated! I understand the effort it takes for these trip reports, especially the live version. I've had so many false starts over the years. I get distracted by FOMO, or sorting through photos, or having to use the notebook to stay caught up with work and don't want to deal with a notebook anymore.

I’ve loved your trip reports for years—they’ve been my weekend cuppa and biscuit. I’ll miss my Saturday fix of a JapesUK epic, but totally get the decision to ease off. For those of us who don’t write them often, it’s easy to forget the herculean combo of note-wrangling, photo-juggling and map-taming it takes to produce each one. So thank you for the miles, the smiles, and the marvellous storytelling.

Just reading this trip report. I remember the exact routine in Burma as well. Plus you handed someone the luggage tickets and off they went to retrieve. They knew what you looked like even if you couldn't remember. Travel is wonderful.

Didn't read all the way to the end. And wish you well. You introduced many of us to new and interesting locales.
