SWISS 1st from ZRH-SFO

Was flying from Greece to SFO via ZRH on SWISS. Got into ZRH after an uneventful european business class adventure on a SWISS A320, interesting to note the amazing box dish they served (that included a nice, what I think was, a small wooden cutting board), either way, it was a quick and nice flight. Got into ZRH and checked into the lounge (that had a whisky tasting bar, if anyone enjoys that), asked the agent if they had any 1st class seats open and she said the entire cabin was open. I asked for the cost of upgrading and was told to check at the counter, went to the counter and they said it was $2800/USD upgrade. I already had a throne business seat and didn't find the value in the upgrade.

Went to board, scanned my boarding pass and the gate agent said, "oh sir, your receipt" and handed me a small slip of paper. I had no idea why they gave me a receipt, went down the walkway and then decided I should see why I was handed a "receipt" and low and behold, it said, "Seat change, first class, 2A", I stopped walking, read it 3 more times and thought, well, good thing I didn't pay for it, lol. This was my first intl 1st class experience, and I was looking forward to it. Pics below, overall I could get used to flying like this, 2 dedicated flight attendants, the purser hung out most the time as well, so 3 people serving a cabin of 8 people. My thoughts, the food and drinks were pretty damn good, it was the service, the attention to detail, the setting of the plate, to the pajamas and comfy slippers that drove it home. The chair was comfy, the size of the screen was like a home television, it was clear and comfortable. Had some of the best sleep on a plane I've ever had. Overall, SWISS was not a bad first experience in first. It was funny watching the other passengers come on and realize they were in 1st, we all got a little nice surprise and delight. I'm 1k on United and was told that was likely why I got upgraded, not sure on that, but if true, nice perk.

*Last detail, the flight in from Greece, once we got a few NM out from ZRH, was one of the most idyllic views I've ever seen, quaint little snow bound towns, with a train running through them, and snow capped mountains, it was like watching a winter rom-com, lol.

Most excellent - well done. I really like SWISS, and think its obviously on par with LH First (as it should be given that LH own them!). Good to see they had Robert Weil Riesling onboard, what did you think? And what was the champagne like?

Nice report, and great pictures - looks like a really elegant experience, it's one I've always wanted to try but I doubt I will have the opportunity any time soon unfortunately!

The great Eightblack commenting on my thread! Very cool!! The Riesling and champagne was great. I may have had a glass or 4 of the champers, we had a 3 hour delay from weather in SFO, so they kept everyone topped off and served the amuse bouche as a snack. The WiFi was awesome as well, so I was researching all the wines and figured out a good pairing menu.

Thanks, it was pretty wild, totally unexpected, and man, I could legit get used to flying like that. I'm used to United Polaris, and oof, not that its a comparison, but dang.
