Interesting trip report on rental options. Super impressed that a rental has subzero and wolf - we are gut rehabbing a place and you would be shocked at the backlog for subzero and wolf. Ironically, we are in Breckenridge (trying to suck all the value out of my veteran epic ski pass) - we are thinking of stopping by Cherry Creek later today for a late lunch before our flight. Congrats on the quick home sale - prices are going crazy in the places where people want to live (e.g., Colorado, Florida, Texas etc.) and good luck with the move and home search!

Nice report! It's certainly a seller's market right now in a lot of places where people are fleeing to. Taking a year to rent and finding the best option isn't the worst thing, and maybe if you're lucky the market may soften a little bit in that time. You can add North Carolina to that list too. Everything is selling above asking with multiple offers, it's wild.

Let us know when you are back in Denver. If you settle in Cherry Creek, I will wave each time I walk my client's dog down in the shopping area.

OMG!!! Thank heavens you have seen the light and decided to return to a normal state. Come stay at my place. My wine fridge is full to the bream, we have an amazing cheese importer in my town and I have finally found a place that sells duck liver pate that doesn't taste like it was strained through a jock strap. Call me - let's have lunch!

Back to Southern California...
After yesterday's mere 3" snowfall, this morning was brilliantly sunny with warming temps that quickly melted the snow. https://s3-us-west-1.amazonaws.com/s...IMG_6524_2.jpg https://s3-us-west-1.amazonaws.com/s...IMG_6525_2.jpg One more JW service failure. This water was here 12 hours ago. https://s3-us-west-1.amazonaws.com/s...IMG_6526_2.jpg On our way to DIA... https://s3-us-west-1.amazonaws.com/s...IMG_6537_3.jpg We pulled into the Avis lot and asked for Curbside Delivery. For $35, an Avis rep will hop in your vehicle and drive you directly to the terminal. PreCheck moved quickly and we were thru and on the train 5 minutes later. https://s3-us-west-1.amazonaws.com/s...IMG_6540_2.jpg https://s3-us-west-1.amazonaws.com/s...IMG_6541_1.jpg https://s3-us-west-1.amazonaws.com/s...IMG_6543_4.jpg https://s3-us-west-1.amazonaws.com/s...IMG_6545_1.jpg Since we had an hour before departure, we decided to eat in the terminal rather than having to suffer thru United's horrific wraps or infamous snackbox. Elway's had a 20 minute wait, so we headed to Wolfgang Puck. https://s3-us-west-1.amazonaws.com/s...IMG_6542_2.jpg OK, now Wolfgang's pepperoni pizza was really good. https://s3-us-west-1.amazonaws.com/s...IMG_6547_1.jpg At around T-40, we headed to our nearby Gate B42. We rented one of the Cherry Creek apartments we saw and we'll be back in Denver officially in a month. |
Some of those apartments were quite lovely. I hate to think what the rents are. Hope the move goes well!

LOL my nephew just moved from Denver to Tampa. He says he prefers the weather! Denver is booming with companies like Lockheed expanding.
Houses also sell fast there. |
Looking forward to the sites through the states. Also, hope the events in Israel don’t derail that trip. This COVID crap is enough for a lifetime.
|
Question, how do you enjoy all the fine dining without a seatbelt extender - totally jealous :)

First stop this morning was to fuel up both cars. How can I pass up a name like this and gas prices $1 a gallon less than the PRC.

I'm glad that moving (always painful) hasn't discouraged you from writing trip reports. All your wonderful pictures remind me of how little I know about geology and gastronomy, for that matter.
Many, many years ago, if it's any comfort, I spent more time than I care to remember on long-distance trains (among others, the Nord Express, the Sud Express and three times on the Orient Express back when it still ran), and they're really not so great. They can gussy it up all they want these days with better food and pretty decoration, but it's still a night train and still miserable. Pace the "Man in Seat 61," but that's why people fly. And, yeah, I actually did make it from London to Istanbul. |
What day were you driving out to Denver? I think we may have crossed paths! I was driving back from Denver after looking at homes, and ran into what looks like the same accident on the north bound lanes while coming back south.
|
Amazing TR as always Mr. SFO777! :D I love seeing all of your adventures in aviation and with your move from CA to CO, you definitely make getting there half the fun! :D I hope you and your family are doing well back in Denver and look forward to hearing more! :D

Well SFO777, you’ve turned a relocation into an interesting trip report. Well played. Colorado is beautiful, had the pleasure of visiting family in the Castle Rock area some years back.
We enjoyed a road trip south from Idaho, through Utah and into Arizona to see Monument Valley in late 2019. Beautiful scenery. Looking forward to another extended holiday to the US once we are allowed to leave Australia! |
Very interesting report and a great reminder of just how vast the Western United States really is, looking forward to the rest of it!
