More continued excellence of a trip report. After seeing many glowing reports of the Aman in Venice I wished we had stayed there when we were in Venice three years ago. However, the hotel does not appear to have value for the money. The poor silicone job in the bathroom would also drive me insane. The chairs look extremely uncomfortable. Not all guests are in their twenties, with flexible joints. The breakfast did look wonderful as did the chocolate bombe for dessert! |

Gelato: Amorino Venice
Amorino has outlets all over Europe, it was my favourite in Spain and France and in enjoy it in Germany. I was sceptical in Italy as something told me I wouldnīt enjoy it so much. The ice cream as far as I know from France.

As we heared of Long lines and we werenīt able to buy fast lane tickets via Internet we booked a guided tour. One time the tour was changed due to an unexpected closure of the church

I once visited Venice for (only) a day a few years back to break up a journey from the Slovenian coast to Germany, and never managed to visit San Marco from the inside. I never knew that it would resemble so much a Byzantine/Orthodox church in its interior! I didn't expect that at all. Thanks again for the trip report!

Next we took the waterbus to Murano, the glass Island.

Also you must be careful in many of the around 100 glas-shops on Murano and (a few more) in Venice. Many donīt sell "real" Murano-glass, they sell cheap fakes from China as "Murano-glass" is not a protected destination of orgin. Dinner: Glam Venice
The last evening in Venice I wanted to eat at a Michelin starred restaurant again. We choosed Glam, the Venetian restaurant of Enrico Bartolini. It holds one star at guide Michelin.
The restaurant is located at Palazzo Venart, a quite stylish hotel. Next morning it was time to leave the Aman. Concierge told us watertaxi to the Piazzale Roma would be 70,00 . No idea why it was 10 more than last time. As we did only saw small parts of the Canale Grande I asked if it would be possible to drive through it on the way. It was 100 what I accepted.

Venice: Garage San Marco
I already gave some comments about Garage San Marco. Now it was time to collect our car. First I had to go to the cashier were no payment was necessary. Then I had to go to the to floor. When I saw "my" car I was so happy. Not one, no many seagulls had beautified the car. Really not a nice sight. But the best Thing was, that they had moved the car. Isnīt it parked perfectly?

At the moment I entered and started to Programm my Navigation System an unfriendly member of staff told me to leave or better he pointed at the Exit and told me "Exit, Exit". The icing on the cake . You find a lot of Gelato in Sirmione or letīs say cheap ice-cream for expensive prices. I didnīt try one but Iīm sure they were awful.

Time for our last hotel, Relais San Lorenzo. It is part of Small Luxury Hotels and for some reason it was on my list for a while. First Task was to reach the hotel which is located in the old town and a limited travel zone. Navigation system was useless and after some drives through the historic City. Bergamo: Hostaria restaurant San Lorenzo
The first evening we had dinner at the Hostaria restaurant at the hotel. The setting is spectacular, I would say the most spectacular during our journey. You will find more about it when it comes to the breakfast.
The food was on a high level, near to 1 Michelin star quality. Breakfast is served in the Basement were also the restuarant is located. As I said bevor the space is stunning. The area is integrated in ancient ruins.

Bergamo: Relais San Lorenzo
I liked my stay at Relais San Lorenzo. The location for Bergamo is perfect and the hotel has style. Sure, there were better hotels on my journey but I would stay here again. Service was friendly and they really try to improve your stay.
