Thanks for another great TR.

I would love to go to Leptis Magna, but that is ine expensive visa.

Fantastic trip report, thank you for taking the time. Your pictures speak more than words could. Also took a little bit too much time the last few days reading through some your previous escapades. Glad to see that I'm not the only one drawn to the less traveled and more fascinating places - just need to borrow a little bit of your fearlessness. Given your frequent travels through less conventional places, your family / friends must be more used to it by now, but how did you handle their concern/worries when you first started exploring more off the beaten path / conventionally considered dangerous places?

Many thanks, lds89:). I save my parents a bit of stress by not telling then until after I am safely back. A bit of a surprise though when they get a email with the subject 'Pics from Baghdad':D. Makes it easier when I'm on the other side of the world to keep it secret. I tell my significant other and friends about upcoming trips, but they are immune to the 'danger factor' now after all my travels.

Thank you, camsean:). Yes, the visa is a bit of a PITA. Don't think it will change anytime soon though:(.

@DanielW, Thanks for the picture-perfect trip report. Lots of memories. Lived in Tripoli ~1989-93 (I was a young lad back then) and even with the day-to-day challenges of foreigners living in Libya even back then...I have some of my life's fondest memories from my time spent in Libya. ^

Thanks for sharing.

Many thanks, CodeAdam10:). We passed through an old neighbourhood where expat families used to live. Very interesting to know that there used to be a time when western families used to live and work in Tripoli in relative safety.

Always enjoy reading your Trip Reports, especially to places that are a little more "obscure" in today's world climate. Thanks for sharing ^

Than you, WesternCDN:). Next TR will be a little more conventional but still a lot of fun, a few days in Hong Kong.

Thank you, aquamarinesteph:). One of my few 'dangerous' places to visit so was slightly sad at the end too:D.

I've taken a break from this forum for awhile and am just catching up on your trip reports.

Every report you publish is amazing, but I just love the one. Like I want to pack my bags and go tonight. Thanks so much for this!

Question: how was internet access in Libya?

Question: how was internet access in Libya?

Many thanks, MatthewLAX:). Libya had been on my list for a while, so was great to finally visit. Seemed relatively 'normal' too, despite the governance / militia issues.

Internet was pretty good at our hotel. Not sure if it was fast enough for Youtube/Netflix, but was perfectly fine for web browsing, social media etc.

May I ask which Libyan travel agency has organized this tour and visa?
