I took a glance at FlyerTalk while on a break at work and saw 'A Trip to Bangladesh' and then saw it was from DanielW and I got all excited to disappear into a great trip report for a while. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to lose myself in this trip report during the day, so I saved it for tonight when I could savor it leisurely. Thank you for once again taking me somewhere I have never been.

Excellent trip report as always DanielW.

Man the river in Dhaka is so black... must be due to all the discharge from the textile factories..

I love how you're able to capture the local feel of all the places you visit.

Another awesome report, as usual!

DanielW TR = infinity
TR's yapping about shower time=0.

you have a gift!

what an amazing set of pics from the photography tour - you clearly had a much better Bangladesh experience than I did. It was 100+ countries ago for me, however, so it's at the top of the list for countries I really feel like I need to give another go!

Another great TR! As someone who's been to Bangladesh numerous times over the years for work, it was great to see some of the street scenes...though you seemed to miss the worst of the traffic!

Fabulous TR as usual. Thanks so much! Fun to see locals wanting your picture as well :-)

I have to ask as it didn't see readily clear....are those mallards alive or dead?
LOL

Thanks, enviroian:). The mallards were definitely alive, not sure how long until they ended up in someones curry though:D.

Fantastic report - as usual! Bangladesh is one of those too-often-overlooked countries that I would be more than glad to visit!

Thank you, oneworld82:). Yes, definitely worth a visit, the lack of other tourists is definitely a plus too:).

looks like it's all hustle and bustle in Bangladesh. interesting that you took a boat 'cruise' along the river.
thanks for sharing DanielW.

Cheers, blueferrari:). Dhaka definitely had an electric and energetic vibe. The boat trip was a highlight too, great way to travel and see some of the countryside.

The Sundarbans is considered the place where cholera was unleashed. One of the world's first cholera pandemics orriginated in Jessore.
Dhaka has the world's largest Diarrhea hospital
I lift a cup of hot cocoa to your ability to travel without constantly....ok that's enough:rolleyes:

Thanks, CHSDOC:). Luckily I managed to dodge the cholera and anything worse:D. I think I picked up a cold from the filthy air though:(.

Many thanks, ironmanjt:). I had only mediocre expectations for this trip, but was pleasantly surprised. Definitely worth a revisit if you're in that part of the world again.

Thanks, Thunderroad:). I can imagine 3 hours to drive the 15 kilometres to the airport when the traffic gets real bad must be real torture!

Thank you, gaobest:). Yes, the locals were very friendly and obliging while I harrased them with my camera:).

Fantastic. However it reminded me of that awful incident about a year ago in the restaurant.

Great report. At least your taxi went down the correct carriageway.Last time I was in Dhaka the bus gave up with the traffic and swung across to the opposite, driving at the oncoming traffic out of the city.

I was there at Bangladeshi new year.Absolutely fascinating.

Lovely photos of Bangladesh! I loved my trip there a few years ago, including a few nights on the river, plus some daredevil rickshaw rides!

Another excellent report, Daniel. Amazing photos! I had some friends that studied abroad in Bangladesh for a month when were in college, so nice to see photos of Dhaka.

Thank you for sharing.
