Another Steakhouse suggestion
Sparks, Manhattan (NYC) 46th Street between 2nd and 3rd avenues...
I went here with the visiting Quantum Leap and Marie... and we all loved it (I was here before to celebrate Geo1004's birthday and glad I came back.) A very old style clubby steakhouse with exception service and terrific steaks and entrays. The place gets crowded so they advise to get an early reservation. Yes, I like going to other steakhouses besides Ruth's Chris. |
Catman:
When you come to Tucson we will take you to El Corral. http://emol.org/emol/dining/elcorral.html The prices in the review may not be quite up to date. [This message has been edited by Old Gold (edited 12-12-1999).] |
Raleigh, NC has a great place near the airport called Angus Barn, www.angusbarn.com .. A little pricey but great steak.
|
I'd go but my chauffeur is too frightened.

Catman... glad to see you returned to the scene of the crime. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
The Angus Barn outside of Raleigh is good... I've only been there once but it was a great experience... While we are tossing out suggestions, Harris's in San Francisco... I ate there this last weekend and it was great. This was a second visit... the porterhouse was wonderful (as was the 1997 Ridge Geyserville that went with it). http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif http://bayarea.citysearch.com/E/V/SF...0/32/10/3.html [This message has been edited by geo1004 (edited 12-13-1999).] |
Gibson's in Chicago is one of the best in the country. Also Gene and Georgetti's.
Out in the wild west, Traildust is the best if you are really hungry. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
... well, once more, I miss competent contributions of other 'overseas american' countries like Brazil and Argentina giving advice for their favorite Churrascerias.
and I soon might add a special column on the best swiss cheese fondue (and raclette) places if you don't stop to make me hungry! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
... or how about a special 'Kobe' beef place in Japan?
|
I have never had swiss fondue. I must try it.
Maybe we should do a round the world trip just going to steakhouses and have steak and wine and beer and write trip reports when we come home! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |

There is only one true Kobe shabu-shabu and if it is served properly, it doesn't matter where you are.
As for Churrasceria's, I don't recall names, but I've been to a couple of great ones in Sao Paulo. However, neither is a Steakhouse. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but a "Steakhouse" is a U.S. invention and it's only done well in the U.S. Of course there are other similar places around the world, but the U.S. style is quite distinctive. |
