I'm with you Uncle T I must prefer "being there, than trying to get there" when I'm travelling.

To me, those 90mins are better spent ensuring I will have any easy passage through all the hoops, one must jump through to travel by air these days, than lying in bed. Especially when heading into the unknown, as you were at LAX for your AA flight ^

Excellent stuff. Looking forward to the next installment.

I really enjoy your style of writing. I want one of the collapsible water pouches given you by your hotel! I've actually gone googling, found a lot of 25 with advertising by a credit union on eBay, and nothing on Amazon. It seems to be something made as a promo item only. But it's a better design than those commonly found with a carabiner clip. The picture of katsu at Lulus made me hungry.

Praise from on high indeed, Ma'am. Thank you! ;)

If you make it to the JER Do, we will gladly donate a water carrier to you!

This thread needs a warning:

May cause you to book a TP-run to HNL

;)

I was in HNL about ten years ago and the thread has brought back some memories.

I'm pretty sure I visited an ABC store. I stayed at the same end of Wakiki as T8191.

On words and language, I remember how people said Ha-wye-yee while I said Ha-wye-ee.

I am tempted to go back

Great trip report ^

I hear what you say, but a TR isn't really supposed to be a Destination Guide ... FT has a separate forum for that (does Hawaii feature? I didn't look!]

I'll see how Part 4 comes out (Working title is "reflections and Comparisons") which might help a bit more. But first I must finish Part 3 ... Which is close to completion!

Great TR Uncle T - looking forward to the next instalments

Pearl Harbor

Love the trip report and your views of Waikiki and Pearl Harbor mirror my own.
That said Pearl is a must do at least once and I would recommend using the national park service to book.

www.nps.gov/usar/planyourvisit/

The benefit is it then happens at your pace and I would also recommend booking the Arizona visit for early in the day. Once that's over the bluefin and then go to the Missouri and the air museum. 5-6 hours tops and the rest of the day by the pool!

A great read ^ looking forward to the rest... And checking out the current sale in more detail ;)

I've been looking forward to this one! Excellent so far! I'm in suspense waiting to find out if you got your Mai Tais at Duke's.

I'll be booking something from DUB myself, but just likely to SEA, as I can't find anything reasonable that gets me out to HI and then lets me stay in SEA for my trip there.

There is indeed a section in the Destinations for HI.

Edit: Then again, I'm happy with Silver. ;)

Great report! Seems you had great time and I agree with you on the 'Stars and Stripes', it was overpriced and not packed with action at all!

We have just completed an almost identical trip to you and your great trip report has reminded us of hols! We also survived the storm you experienced (we were up at Turtle Bay) but lost our power and internet for a while. No problem though as we stocked up at ABC!

I agree on AA first. Not to bad when going on your hols and the cabin crew were decent. Wouldn't want to do it as a business traveller though.

My eyes are bleeding, but PART 3 is published :)

Part 4 tomorrow ...
