Yep:)! I did white water rafting on the Zambezi last year, and in terms of difficulty this was 10 times easier and probably just as much fun:).

I have two questions about your seven hour trip to the cave:

1) you know...what did you do about....seven hours is a long time...
2) how did you get up?

Time actually flew quite quickly. Got to see some fossils (oysters the size of dinner plates), spiders (about 2 inches wide), jump into the pools from a overhanging ledge, stopping for photo ops, and even had a break half-way with chocolate & OJ:).

You follow the river upstream through the cave, so you keep heading uphill, until you arrive at the exit (i.e. the last pic).

I take it that this was the "Lost World" experience?
I tried to do it with a friend but due to overnight rainfall they cancelled it and I have never made it back to there. :(

Yes, this was the one:

We had Cyclone Lusi a couple of days before but luckily it was a bit of a fizzer with minimal rain. I can imagine it being pretty tough with lots of water though, almost need scuba gear:)!

Great pictures!

My wife and I did this a few years ago. It was right after some rains, and the water was especially powerful. We were exhausted afterwards, but had a fantastic time nevertheless.

Thanks for sharing these.

Spectacular photos! My only caving experience in New Zealand was in the Glow Worm cave - we went in on a boat and it was considerably more pedestrian than your adventure. I'm sure I speak for many when I say we look forward to your next adventure! ^^

Cheers, Pufnstuf, I can imagine it being quite wild and hectic with alot more water down there:).

Thank you, Seat 2A:). The boat trip must have been memorable too, like watching the stars on a cloudless night. Next adventure is only a few weeks away and hopefully some more good photo opportunities.

If ain't adventurous Kiwis are not going. Gotta love this :p
And this is probably one of the easiest thing to do in New Zealand.
Great shots DanielW, gave me nearly dizziness.

I did also enjoy the visit to Waitomo and those cute glow worms, though seated on the classic boat.
Then, driving accross the country, the non-stop ads of jumping, falling, rolling and climbing made me feel a genuine old dude.
