An old KU timetable only had the B747-200

Hope you had a great flight. Have found an old timetable of KU at home!

In the late 90s they only had a B747-200 with four rows of F in the nose section, some First seats upstairs and also 2 rows with 2 seats each after door 1 L. Your boarding pass showed 3A, so I think they have just put out 2 rows of F.

Wondering how they use the additional space? For a lounge, a "majil" or a couch? A google search doesn´t deliver any interior pictures.

Wonder how the seat map look slike!

Hamad, despite the massive leg room in F, the seats weren't flat beds, right?

First of all thanks to all for the nice comments.
Iam really Sorry that I missed to take some shots of the Seat - I was too tired to think about it :D

Unfortunetely the Seats werent flat bads but anyhow the Reclining was pretty good for sleeping - I slept very well.
Sth. like shown on the following pic(maybe a bit more):

The Seats were like this(concerning Size and Design), maybe a bit more modern and with electronic seat reclining etc.

Actually it wasnt a 747-200 but a 747-400 - Its usually used for government purpose but also used sime time by Kuwait Airways.
And yes my Boarding Pass showed first 3A but after boarding Cabin Crew asked me kindly whether I could change to seat 2... which means that the Row I sit was Row 2 If Iam not wrong there was on the other side(left side) a First Row where 2 guys sit. But as you see in front of me there wasnt any row.

Fascinating report--many thanks for posting it! The china that they use looks quite nice. I wonder if it's also ordinarily meant for traveling dignitaries or if it is standard KU F china.

Fascinating stuff. That 744 looks great from the outside, not so good on the inside.

I'd love to get a ride on one of KU's A310's.

Thanks for the great report Hamad! I have flown on Kuwait Airways many times using the London-New York route as there is a stop over in London 3 times a week to/from Kuwait. Direct flights from Kuwait to New York is also 3 times a week. Kuwait Airways is in DIRE need of a complete refit! Not just the airplanes and the interior, but even customer service. It is very much lacking when you compare it to their neighbors (Emirates, Etihad, Qatar Airways, etc.) The problem is that Kuwait is richer than all their neighboring countries, but government interference and bureaucracy has not let Kuwait Airways thrive. Kuwait Airways is close to being privatized, so I hope things will change!

This 747 is mainly used by the Emir of Kuwait, but Kuwait Airways uses it every now and then for extra or alternative flights. He won't be needing this piece of junk anymore as he is about to receive his new (and first to be delivered) private 747-8! Here's a link to the video! Sweet!

As for the extra space in the aircraft, it is for... buffets! (So I've been told!) The upper deck is completely off limits when flown by Kuwait Airways, and is only open for the royal flights. I had the pleasure of a sneak peak once flying from JFK to LHR and it is simply amazing! I usually fly on the 777, but that day this was flying to London! The upper deck pretty much looks like a private jet with an L shaped sofa and a bedroom with a king size bed and a shower! Amazing! I'm sure the new 747-8 is just out of this world!

Thanks for the great report!

Thank you for posting and a belated warm welcome to Flyertalk! I enjoy reading reports on airlines that we don't hear much about. It sounds like you had a very comfortable flight. Is that caviar I see on the salad plate?

Thank you very much to all of you for your kind Comments.
