Possible change to Forum

Hi all,

In my ignorance, I began this thread in the One World Forum. Apparently there is a Trip Report forum, which may be more sensible. I have alerted the administrator, and we'll see what they decide to do. In any case, I will continue the report, and send a note to this thread no matter where it ends up residing on flyertalk!

HELP.New to mileage slang

What is an f segment? Is there a single source/site where I can learn the ins and outs of mileage programs. I have a substantial amount of miles on BA and AA.

Hang out in the AA forum for information about its award program. Hang out in the BA forum for information about its award program.

"F segment" is a first class flight.

Looking forward to read about it, is it mainly paid for by miles?

BA Configuration - Some Good Luck

Some folks have asked about whether some of my BA segments will be using updated planes. I spoke with BA, and found some good news:

The LHR-ARN segment is an internatonal 767, so my J class will have the new flatbed J seats; this is not true for my return flight, but I'm not complaining!

Also, my segments LHR-TLV and TLV-LHR have both been confirmed as having the new BA First Cabin. So I will be able to give you all a good comparison between the new BA F on the 773 vs. the 747!

Question on this ticket:

1. Does this cost miles or $? how many miles if i can ask would this itinerary cost

2. Someone mentioned accruing miles. If you are redeeming miles for a RTW ticket, how come you still accrue the miles flown?

Thanks!

So I purchased this with dollars. I think it's a better value to be honest. The cost without taxes is $15,000 US, 17K with takes. If you were to price out the itinerary with seperate segments, I think you're talking about something like a 50-70K value (haven't done the math). I haven't fully done the math, but I think it makes more sense to spend the $$$ than to spend the miles on an itinerary such as this given the price. And so, given that I paid cash for the ticket, I will accrue miles for every segment!

Not to worry, I have just got my iPad, and I'll be busily taking pictures every step of the way! Look for my first trip report over President's Day weekend!

it's $15,000 USD for the WHOLE trip? in First class?? that seems amazing.
a normal first class flight to Asia costs like $6K.. awesome.

do you just call up the airline and do it? or do they have RTW specialists?
congrats! can't wait to see photos!

Question

Hi all,

I would like to post as many pictures as possible in my trip reports. However, I will be flying with only an iPad and an iPhone. Does anybody have any instructions on how to take pictures from those devices and embed them in my trip reports? I have searched for stickies with this info, but I haven't found any -- and it doesn't seem intuitive.

Thanks!

Why aren't you bringing a camera with you on a RTW trip? just curious..

That's not a bad idea. I tend not to be a camera person, but if you think the resolution will be much better for the trip reports, I'll purchase one before I go.
