United ~ Just blah

Flew LHRORD yesterday. Business cabin maybe half full. No one offered to hang up my coat. OK food but didn't get first choice and that salmon slice seems to be getting smaller and smaller, frequent water refills, AVOD had nothing I really wanted to watch.

Crew disinterested. No smiles, no comments, but competent. Was amazed that I would want tea with the scone not coffee.

Left and landed on time.

Is this it? The advantage of business is that it's not economy?

Just what I was thinking...

Sounds like UA on a good day to me. Or BA on a bad day.

In any case, it may be more helpful to others to add some more detail into the title: to do this you can click on the small red exclamation mark below your post to ask the moderator to edit the title of your contribution.

Clue 1: LHR-ORD
Clue 2: Salmon as appetizer on small plate (ok, this is a giveaway)
Clue 3: Frequent water refills (this is also a giveaway. Of all the airlines I've flown, only one that does this well and consistently)
Clue 4: AVOD
Clue 5: afternoon tea/scones prior to arrival.
Clue 6: #1 on time! :p
Clue 7: just blah (this is also a giveaway)

United, it's time to fly :p

Brilliantly deduced! The 949. Sorry for the omission.

It's no shock that the crew was disinterested. I'd be quite surprised if they were in any way partial.

Do you perhaps intend to convey that they were uninterested?

*Sorry, had grammar beaten into me in school.

Correction noted and appreciated.

Over the decades one can become quite sloppy without the threat of the whispering bamboo.

Title changed by OPs request.

Great guesswork nailing the carrier in the meantime. ^

LHR-ORD is using all LHR base crew, therefore not surprise with the service.

sobore Feb 25, 2010 5:21 am

UA crews tend to be decent, however every once in a while you lose the 'service lottery' and get a dud. Sorry to hear this. :(

ClipperJon Feb 25, 2010 8:30 am

I have only flown IAD-LHR on UA, and the service in C has always been stellar. The crews have always been IAD based. A few of the female attendants have been perhaps a little bit too friendly at times - but hey, this is the friendly skies, after all! ;) I have been flying this route since the Pan Am 106/107 days in the late 1960s and have had seatmates that date themselves back then, too! I have always requested - and received - a window in the mini C cabin on the tripple 7 (I understand the 767 has the new C seating but its schedule is less convenient for now) and the service is great.

VVanderlust kindly prescribes that 1Apreferably take a few hops across the pond in Y to regain his enthusiasm for even the very mediocre United C.

This was a problem?
