I listen to my iPod, make use of the in-flight entertainment system if there is one and there's anything on it that interests me, do sudoku, and read. I try to pick books that are fairly easy reading and that don't take a lot of concentration, or at least that are easy to put down and pick up again. I also sometimes sleep, if I'm lucky.
I've never been able to sleep on planes, so for longer flights I usually load my ipod with one or two seasons of my favourite TV shows, a few hours of stand-up from some of my favourite comedians, and bring a newspaper to get me by during take-off/landing when I can't have my earphones in.
If I fly on a Sunday I love getting a couple of the Sunday papers before hopping on the plane. If you read most of the New York Times (with magazine) and a Washington Post sunday paper, it can get you through hours of flight.
Now that AC has Individual IFE...
...I watch movies/tv, and read the papers and magazines I take from the lounge.
for me it's ch9 on ua's ife with my n/c headphones and if ch9 is not available, then out comes my i-pod with family guy and three stooges videos.....
read, talk, think, work, movies, drink, eat, sleep, musing, blogging, etc
I used to commute DEN-SAN, and played my PSP for most of the trip. I alternate between Madden, MLB, and Tiger Woods Golf. For longhaul I'll watch movies, listen to ipod, read magazine or book for takeoff and landing.

I often just sleep. Nothing like landing to wake you up - better then coffee if you need to hit the ground running. As for talking - I don't like talking to people i don't know, i really don't like talking to people i do or don't know about nothing, and i really hate people I don't know talking loudly behind me about nothing. Mostly I sleep on the plane but that's because I'm usually on a CRJ and there just isn't the elbow room to do much else. When I do have room however, I read, play on the DS or if there's AVOD watch something or play trivia against the other passengers. I still carry my ipod with me but I don't think its had a charge on it in over a year. It really only ever got used for longhaul when I was ready to go to sleep. Beethoven, Rachmaninoff and Tchaikovsky for sleepy time. No Bach lullabies for me, mostly piano and violin concertos. |
read during taxi/takeoff, Tivo to Go^ on the laptop. Maybe bring along Serato(DJ) laptop to organize crates & cue points for gigs.

1. iPod and Bose headphones -- listen to the music and transport somewhere else.
2. Occasionally, watch movies on the laptop. 3. Stare out the window and watch the world go by. Enjoy the occasional interesting phenomena -- thunderstorms, aurora, mountain peaks, etc. 4. Look at the AirShow map from time to time. 5. Drink. Drink. Drink. I also have Skymall memorized...or else it seems that way. I read every airline magazine every month. I try to rotate airlines just to read more magazines, although there is so little actual content that I'm usually done before take off. That Cyogenics guy really creeps me out. |

Listen to iPod & try to sleep. Last flight I tried to knit but there just isn't enough elbow room in cattle class.
