Boarding Pass Problem

Flying ABZ/LHR/MIA tomorrow (4th Feb). All booked with AA but ABZ/LHR is a BA codeshare.

Have printed my ABZ/LHR boarding pass from the BA web site but cannot get the LHR/MIA bp from them.

The AA web site says it cannot issue my boarding pass(es) as the first leg is with a codeshare airline.

Phone call to AA reservations (located in France??) produced no solution - just told to check in at Heathrow.

Problem: Four decrepit seniors in the party and the transit time at LHR (T5 to T3) is 1hr 40min from scheduled arrival to scheduled departure; the former is always tricky at 08.05hrs.

Waiting for a reply to email to AA customer relations but not holding my breath.

Any thoughts???

you will get your 2nd bp when you check in at ABZ, just go to a counter and ask for it

That's re-assuring; many thanks.

While this may not be the situation of the OP, it may be of interest to other in a similar snafu. Doesn't always work, but it many cases it will:

If you are flying on Company A and connecting to Company B on a codeshare with A. When you check in they tell you that they cannot give you boarding pass for the Company B flight. Have them make sure that the flight number of the second flight is the codeshare flight and NOT the operating flight number.

In other words, connecting on AF to SU on an AF ticket.
AF6213 NCE-CDG and SU252 CDG-SVO will most likely come up at check-in.
If they change that to AF6213 and AF2144 then they will be able to check you in.

Also AA doesn't permit OLCI for international flights, so even if you didn't have a codeshare flight on your reservation it still wouldn't have allowed you to check in online for your LHR-MIA flight. As the previous posters said, you can get it in ABZ.

I've never had the 'pleasure' of flying this airline, and it seems that every time I read something about them on FT, I am out off ever trying them!

What if you're flying on Company A connecting to Company B on a codeshare booked on company B?

For example, I have a United itinerary from Berlin to St. Louis. It's Lufthansa from Berlin to Frankfurt to Chicago, and United from Chicago to St. Louis. At checkin in Berlin, can Lufthansa issue the boarding pass for the Chicago to St. Louis leg?

Yes, at real check-in they will be able to, at online checkin it's not impossible, but it's a 50/50 shot.
