I travel with my own fleece throw.
I have had attendants try to "collect" it from me at the end of the flight-assuming it belongs to the airlines.

Mind you, mine is bright red. Not to easy to mistake that for the deep blue blankets provided by the airlines I usually fly.

Portions of the post that previously appeared in this space have been deleted. I would provide you with a reason why, but doing so would likely be against the TOS.

Given the disparity that exists between Airline A and Airline B with regard to the amenities that are provided, would it be acceptable to take the seat that you used on Airline A if you would like to use it on your next flight with Airline B?

While I don't condone removing pillows or blankets, I would take the seat from F Airline A for use in Y Airline B in a heartbeat! :p

I would guess this is the #1 reason why someone chooses to take the pillows and blankets. Me, never in a million years... yuck!

Pillows and blankets on airplanes are discarded rather than dry cleaned or laundered when they've gotten nasty. There was some fluff a few years ago about giving them to the homeless, but it became obvious that plan was folly.

It is a pathetic chap who has so little pride and such a wayward moral compass that he would resort to pilfering the pathetic items that we know as airline pillows and blankets.

We've just been through this on the BA Board and it wasn't a pretty sight ... although today's posts are excellent!

Anyone contemplating this really needs to get a grip. If a friend invites you round to their house, do you consider the soft furnishings to be fair game? Are the ornaments up for grabs? Maybe a few pieces of cutlery / silverware?

And once you've convinced yourself that the pillows and blankets are ok, how long will it be before you get to thinking that liberating the clock / radio from your hotel room can be justified? And then ... ?

While I would have never considered taking a blanket from a flight, I did indeed take one. I was flying PHX - DEN - BZN after spring break. I had accidentally packed my sweatshirt that I was planning to take on the flight as I am always cold, but somehow it ended up in my luggage. Halfway through my the flight to DEN I came down with an awful cold, which hit with no warning. I was so cold I was shivering and all the other not so fun stuff that comes with a cold. I did take two blankets, one on each leg to wrap my entire body in and I was still freezing. I kept the blankets for the reason that I had been breathing, sneezing and entirely wrapped in them for four - plus hours and didn't think the next person on the flight would appreciate my germs.

never

I have never taken an airlines blanket or pillow, why would most people want them???

Take and Wash?

If you're worried about them being dirty and disgusting, why not take one at the end of the flight, wash it yourself, and then use is for future trips?

Not that I am condoning stealing....

Why would you want to keep a used, cheap, dirty and germy blanket when you can get a nice, clean, new one for about $15?

Welcome to FT Irina s!!!

Agreed^ I think its tacky as well unless your instructed to take it. For instance, once on a flight from DCA-ORD-SFO, I had an overnighter at ORD....me and the crew got to talking during the flight so they told me to take a "lot" of extra blankets and a few pillows because of how cold the airport gets...they simply said bring them back on the ORD-SFO flight the next morning...

Mine's red as well. I got worried this past Monday that a passenger was going to take it out of my bag in the overhead because I had left it on top and it was kinda sticking out. I kept looking to see if people were reaching up there for it while they were boarding. I was so paranoid. So yes, I'm 36 and I have a woobie apparently.

Oh and since we're all linking blankets.

One of the houses I lived in during my college days had an AA blanket in the living room.

No idea how it got there... I didn't bring it in..
