Oh yes (school group of 40+ teenagers who turned the middle section of Y into an all-night party while chaperones and FAs did nothing). But not their clothes.

I volunteered for a bump off of a transcon red-eye flight that had about that make-up. Was probably the most lucrative bump I've yet to take :D

People could suffer!

The scene - EWR - Boarding gate for SnottyAir flight 227 to MSY

Gate Agent - Ms. Spears, Ms. Hilton, please approach the agent at the departure gate.

Ms. Spears - Woohoo! I wonder what we got goin' on!

Gate Agent - Ladies, welcome aboard. We have upgraded you to Prada Class. Welcome aboard.

Spears/Hilton-Woohoo! We gonna drink champagne all night long and paaarrtty!

Well-dressed business traveler - Well look at those well dressed young ladies. They will certainly add the the enjoyment of our flight.

Gate Agent - Mr. Opie Spunkelmeyer - please approach the agent at the departure gate.

Opie - Hi. How are you? You paged me?

Gate Agent - Unfortunately, your attire is substandard for our flight. Those cargo shorts will offend the other passengers and your hairy legs will certainly impede with the image of our airline.

Opie - But I paid for my ticket! And I'm going to build new housing for people who lost their homes during Hurricane Katrina.

Gate Agent - That may be true -but that shirt you are wearing is simply not up to our standards. If only you could be more like those two delightfully sophisticated women (pointing at Ms. Hilton and Ms. Spears, who unfortunately forgot their razor as well as certain vital undergarments).

Opie - But I just want to read this edition of Bleak House before taking a nap. I just want to quietly fly to New Orleans and help people less fortunate than me!

Gate Agent - Well, you really should have worn your business casual attire.

Scene closes with Madamoiselles Spears and Hilton falling down drunk upon arrival at MSY. Camera pans to children begging on the street because their new home, to be built by Opie, is sadly unrealized.

"Would you fly an airline with a dress code"? is not the same as "are you offended by what others are wearing" or any other question.

If I go to a fancy restaurant that requires a tie and jacket, that doesn't mean I think people need to wear ties & jackets everywhere, or in every restaurant.

Was that supposed to answer the OP's question?

I already answered the question. I would fly such an airline, since I always dress to the standard in the OP anyway.

I'm just going to post my opinion.

Yes, I would fly an airline with a dress code. However, I don't think it would work unless all the airlines adopted the same dress code.

I like the idea of a dress code, but I'm afraid that I don't think that it could work on anything like a large scale. Perhaps with a boutique carrier catering to business travelers.

Yes, I would support a dress code.

Fortunately we still have Freedom of Association in the US Constitution, though this right is being slowly whittled away. The barefooted and tank-top crowd are not my kind of peeps.

I'd follow a dress code only under these circumstances:
1. TSA stops making us undress and then re-dress when going through the security gate
2. Airlines stop squashing us into sardine cans and pretending to call it service

Note that I really don't have a problem with undressing for the TSA, as long as I can wear loose, easily-removed clothes with no metal bits. This means no bra, soft shoes, no belt, little jewelry, definitely not business suits. Generally when I do business trips, I fly out the day before for this very reason. I get a good night's sleep after arrival AND am able to dress properly for visiting my customer without looking like I slept in my clothes.

And although I fly generally 6 - 8 times/year, I don't fly often enough to bump up my FF status, so I'm usually in the back of the bus. I love to travel, but I hate to fly because it's just so darn uncomfortable. Therefore it's important that I be able to wear soft, loose clothing and socks instead of panty hose, sneakers instead of dress shoes.
