Prude on a Plane
I had a new experience on a flight last pm from SLC-LAX.
We started watching the Delta Horizons video as per routine. The first show was "30 Rock". As that show was nearing the end, the flight attendents broke in and said they must stop the video and start another as someone found the show objectionable. And another video was started, leaving those of us watching the show to wonder how it ended. Is this typical of Delta - one objection means the rest of us can't watch it? I mean its on Primetime on NBC. Maybe the AVOD will avoid this in the future. I personally think they should've just asked the person to not listen to the show until it is over in another 5 minutes. Any thoughts? |
The taliban are everywhere. They just subscribe to different religions and give themselves different labels.

If one person found the show objectionable, why did they continue watching the show??? Instead, he/she could have read a book, taken a nap, or brought their own entertainment (DVD, Ipod, PSP,....). Why penalize the rest of the passengers? I would be furious if this happened on my flight!

I usually find the safety demo video offensive... maybe I should tell the crew next time
:td: to sucky people |
Unbelieveable and shameful that the FA humored this person. Seems this passenger is probably one that goes around with a sense of entitlement and the FA just supported it.
What about the rest of the passengers. The FA should have just said it's been approved by headquarters for public viewing, so just ignore it if it does not interest you. UGH, hate these selfish people. |
Just out of curiousity....
...which episode was it?

I also cannot believe the FAs indulged this customer - all the person had to do was simply stop watching the video...what about the other 100+ people? If this person was in a movie theater, and found the movie objectionable, would they insist the theater manager play something else or just get up and leave? Sheesh. |

Hey -- if the prude in question can have the IFE shut off for everyone because (s)he finds it offensive (rather than simply ceasing watching it), can we object to him/her being on our flight in the future because we find him/her offensive?
Imagine at the gate. . . "I'm sorry, we were going to let you board, but unfortunately we cannot. Someone found you offensive." :D :D |

Who's with Eva Braun, here?
"Who thinks the Bill of Rights is a pretty darn good idea?" |
Should have found the passenger offensive and locked her in one of the lavs :)

If only there was a universal convention when it comes to "offensive".

Speaking of Rebelyell, what happened to the thread about the Disney thing, did it move to Omni, or what happened? I'm a little confused.

Where in this country is it written that any of us has the right not to be offended?? This is getting downright sickening.

VERY BIG [td]

I would have probably complained loudly over this just to make a point but then again I have been known to cause trouble from time to time :D

Not to condone what this prude did in any way...but flying east couple of weeks ago and I think it was "Because I Said So" was playing...and the portion that they played for the freebie preview over the PA was a series of conversations along the lines of:
"Did you have sex with her?" "I wanted to have sex with her!" And so on...I really DID think it was inappropriate. Not for me, but for someone with a 6-7 year old on the flight? I wouldn't want my kid to be exposed to this during a preview. Not to the point that I'd ask them to turn it off, but I did notice it... |
I was on a flight last week and was startled (because it was an airline movie) to hear a couple of "four-letter words" in the dialog of the movie.

I was actually watching a Sex and the City episode on DVD on my laptop and was startled when more than I was expecting was revealed. I was in a First Class window seat on a narrowbody and became concerned that somebody's grandmother in the aisle seat behind me (peering between my slightly reclined seatback and my seatmates unreclined seatback) may have seen a little more than she may have wanted for that brief moment. |
As this thread seems more than just Delta-related, I am moving it over to TravelBuzz.

I vehemently disagree with your position. Where the heck are the parents in your equation and why aren't they paying attention to what their 6 or 7 year old is watching? I'll never understand the mentality of TV as parental substitute  |

(For the humor impaired: Yes, I know I didn't really have to watch them.) |
