Also, note that I didn't say that one shouldn't bring any food whatsoever on a flight, just food that has a smell that anyone other than the eater can pick up. I don't want to smell your burger/salad/taco/whatever, I may find it disgusting. There are plenty of other foods that one can choose from.

Salads have a scent? That's news to me. Then again, I, and some people don't have salads with dressing. I remember United serving salads with dressing. Do you complain when people rip open that tiny packet of dressing and the scent wafts over to you and your meal? Then again, it's not like they bought it before boarding and took it on board the plane.

All foods have a smell; if it didn't we, as people, wouldn't be able to use our senses and enjoy the SMELL & taste of the food product.

I walk down the street all the time, and there's smells coming out of every take-out store. It could be a bakery, fast food, a diner or a restaurant.

Some people have no choice but to buy a quick meal before boarding because they're running late, or due to change-overs, and a few hours on a plane without that meal could make ya starve, especially if you haven't eaten in a while..beforehand.

This is true, but it also doesn't matter the circumstances. The airlines (with the exception, apparently, of Skybus) allow, and even encourage, passengers to bring their own food. I don't have the time, the energy, or the inclincation to ensure that some person I've never met and will never see again isn't possibly offended by something I've done that's well within the rules and regulations. Don't like the smell of my hamburger? Once I eat it and the trash is picked up, the smell will be gone. You won't die from it.

Maybe not. I managed to get gummy centipedes in this week. Bring on the stilton and limburger!!! Maybe we can get a row with Lark in the center seat :D
