Inflight Porn
I was travelling from NRT to SIN today, and there was an elderly gentleman sitting across the aisle from me travelling with his wife. He had bought several magazines in Japan, and early in the flight proceeded to take out a Japanese adult magazine and leaf through it. I must admit this is not something I have seen someone do before, and I was very surprised.
I would like to ask your opinions about the obvious question of protocol that this raised: is it OK to ask him to lend me the magazine or would that be rude? ;) Seriously though, have you seen people doing this? |
I've once seen a (gay?) teenboy sitting next to me in Raffles Class watching a XXX gay porn video on his laptop. His parents were sitting in the adjacent seats! I didn't say a word though, it's his own right to watch the video and all I had to do was avoid glimpsing at it. The flight was from LHR to SIN on an upper deck cabin. Priceless experience.

Had an embarrasing experience once in the aisle seat on a 737, decided to use my laptop to watch an art movie a friend had just given me - the opening scene was a long shot of a couple lying naked in bed, felt obliged to switch to something else...from my point of view, an airplane is as much an open public space as any other and you're bound to attract a lot of glances by checking out erotica/porn.
The next day I was on a night-train, so I had a chance to view it without feeling uncomfortable...one of the reasons why train travel just can't be beat :) |
I am quite broadminded when it comes to adult entertainment (I have even had a few chances to meet some of the US female stars - friendly bunch ^ ) but watching it on an aircraft is just not on. There are others to consider, especially young eyes and to be honest if I saw somebody viewing it (rather than just a quick glimpse) I'd either inform the crew about the inappropriate behaviour or ask them directly to put it away.

why should you feel you have the right to ask them to put it away they are not making you watch it

Inappropriate. I suppose there is a time & place for porn. |
I'd tell the FA if the person initiate public masturbation, otherwise I'll just watch the porn with him/her or stick to my KrisWorld AVOD.

I got asked to stop w***ing once as I was upsettin all the other passengers :p ;)

Like paella747 states "there is a time & place for porn" and may I add that an aircraft cabin is not it. If you can't control your urges, may I suggest a visit to the toilets and please make sure that you lock the door! |

Strangely enough because I do! @:-) Nobody in 31 years has ever informed me that making a polite request of a stranger is taboo or outlawed in any country. If you know differently please do share.
There's still such a thing as "common sense". I could walk into a church and scream during an open service. It's my right. But it's not appropriate. Then again, if "rights" are the argument (for one of the posters here), then watch porn on a plane all you want! I'll laugh, point, and make a ton of jokes.... out loud. It's my right. No doy. |

This doesn't seem to be specific to SQ so moving to Travel Buzz for wider discussion.

Well said!!! There is so much of this "what right does somebody have to tell me what I can't do....." argument nowadays...

I think the importation of Pornography in either magazine or electronic format to most countries is illegal - without proper permits etc. Certainly is to Auz, UK, USA etc ... I wonder how many people would get caught out by that one if they enforced it! IMHO I'm not sure a plane is the best place for porn in any format mainly because other people might mistakenly catch it and be offended ... My advice if you want to watch it is to fly in the new Emirates 1st class suite with the door shut! |
I caught the guy watching porn on a flight into Singapore! I'm sure Singapore strictly prohibits the import of porn and dildos etc. so that young boy I saw could be facing a serious criminal charge! OOOOOOhh governments banning such stuff should have community watch out incentives (giving away rewards for each caught offender etc). hahahahah
