Tipping for in-room check-in
I searched the forums (no results) but was just curious whether (and how much) I should tip if I get in-room check-in service. Any thoughts?

I don't think it's appropriate. One doesn't really tip front desk agents or hotel managers.

At any rate, I've never tipped for in-room check-in but was just curious what other thought. |

. a) included in the cost of the room b) a marketing gimmick of the hotel It is not undertaken at your specific request but is the arrangement a hotel has for guests in certain rooms grades. In any case, if I worked on the front desk, I would welcome to opportunity to walk around and chat with guest rather than to stand around waiting to serve guests or be hassled by long queues of guests standing in line waiting to be served. |
If it's not something that hotel usually does, if it's apparently out of the employees job description (if they're hourly), and if it's in a tipping-safe country, then tip away.

I wonder if someday the U.S. will be service charge and salary-free and everybody will pay with tips only? :)
