Tipping in UAE and Kenya
I'm headed to UAE (Dubai) and Kenya (Nairobi) this month. What are the general tipping customs in these countries?

I can't comment on the UAE. In Kenya, as far as I can remember, it's similar to the US in terms of the percentages but also as per the US in that there is no such thing as tip that is too big. Since the people doing service jobs in Kenya tend to be very poor, I tend to be perhaps a little overly generous.

I had a wonderful couple of weeks in Dubai UAE in Jan 2005. Typically I tipped 3-6% for meals, taxis etc or rounded up. All was very appreciated. Sometimes I could not tip for lack of the local money. In no case was any disconcent noted and I always received a nice smile (if no veil hid it). I love it. I was never ripped off either. A wonderful place.
