Thanks all. Perhaps I miscommunicated myself--I want to take the tube from the Waldorf to Paddington to grab the HEX in the morning. It appeared there was no straight shot. Also, by looking at the tube map I see Paddingston station apppear twice (?) and am not sure why.

Thanks Cheetah for the hotel info. You are right when talking about no point difference between Hilton Paddington and the Waldorf! However, I do prefer Covent Garden as I'll be closer to theater. I stayed last year at hotel called Kingsway Hall Hotel and loved the area. One of my favorite restaurants in that area is Palais Du Jardin--a great restaurant with even better people watching :)

If you're going to start with the tube, just take it from Covent Garden to Heathrow. It will be faster than making underground connections, then switching to the HEX. IMO. Covent Garden is on the Piccadilly Line, so once you're on, stay on to Heathrow. (Just be sure the final destination for the train is Heathrow, and not the northern branch of the Piccadilly Line.)

One thing to note is that Covent Garden station gets very busy in the evening and weekends, not helped by the lifts to get from ground level to the platforms.

Take the Tube to Leicester Sq instead, it is only about 200yrds from Covent Garden.

I took this today all the way from Russell Sq to Uxbridge (about 20 stops!), some parts of it felt almost like countryside!...but yes, not good for getting to LHR :D

I think you'll find that one Paddington Tube station is for Bakerloo and Circle/Metropolitan Lines. The other station is for the Hammersmith and City Line.

I think that the closest Tube to the Waldorf is, technically, Temple. But Covent Garden is not much further in distance and is infinitely better for a Tube trip to LHR.

There are two enterances to the Paddington tube station. One is next door to the hotel and the other is across the street. You can access all lines from both stations. However, I preferred the one across the street from the Hilton. It saves you from having to cut through the main part of Paddington station to access some of the lines.
