My grandma has a yellow ball of string on her luggage and mom has a pink and red ball. When I travel with their luggage, it makes me think of them. :)

It seems as if everyone has tied a yellow or red ribbon or string to their bags.
So when we got a new set of luggage, I took some leftover material I had from a Xmas project. Bright blue with silver snowflakes and created a handle cover for each of the bags. Ours are the only ones with handle covers, and even if some else did, how likely will bright blue with slilver snowflakes be? The material is bright enough to be noticed, but not too girly for Mr. Balima. |
I use plastic flourescent tape and tie it in a bow around my luggage handles, similar to this. It's cheap, it sticks out like a sore thumb, and it looks slightly tacky, which (I believe) deters thieves.

My personal favorites are the "Tude Tags" from http://www.tagsforbags.com. I've got the bright red tags with "WRONG ONE" embroidered. I've noticed several whispers and some pointing as people saw it. Quite effective though. I can tell my bag from the other end of the luggage belt. $30 for 3 tags is a little expensive, but it does help out the people at The Foundation For The Retarded of The Desert in Palm Desert, CA.

Al explianed that at the airport, he'd be the white guy standing beside a fluorescent pink hardshell suitcase. stunned silence at the other end of the phone... anyway, upon arrival, said Al stands at the said suitcase and the agent marches straight up to him and announces " you've got to be Al!". he was. moral of the story: 1. fluorescent pink suitcases are not stolen off the belt. 2. you gotta have big balls to stand next to a pink suitcase. 3. it helps if you have 3 daughters, to feel comfortable about the colour pink! Alastair... if you read this... my apologies but my greatest respect! i couldn't have done it! Gordon |
bag tags
I have my bright green Flyertalk tags on a few bags; on some I also have personalized brass tags. I have a lot of luggage: black sets, red sets,
green sets, and my latest olive green "suede". |
