moving to america

I would like some info in moving to america.
I am right now in the UK. UK citizen, I want some info off someone who has moved to the US successfully. and could tell me how to do it.

And i would also like to know if this is true.
My friend said all i need to do iz go over there. try and get a work place to sponser me in gettin the work papers. and then a year later apply for your visa.

Thanks for the Help.

Don't count on being sponsored for a visa AFTER you get here, try to arrange it BEFORE. Also, at my workplace we only sponsor people for visas if they have advanced training (PhD or MD). If you don't have unusual and impressive job skills it will probably be difficult.

so. i am gonna have a really hard time moving to america without any qualifications cos mine are crap. im just trying to move to be with someone.
and im stressing about it. but thx for the info

I didn't mean to be discouraging. The surefire way to get a visa is to marry a citizen. It doesn't have to be the person you want to be with, but that helps. I have a friend who married his cousin only for the visa.

do ya have to be married wot about just engaged ? does it work that way ?

Wilbur Jun 22, 2005 6:14 pm

You need to marry your cousin or be engaged to your sister/brother to get a visa.

No, seriously, you can enter the US on a K-1 Fiance(e) visa and then get married. Search the K-1 visa on google, and you will come up with a number of very helpful sites that will walk you through the process.

You only have to get engaged to your sister/brother or marry your cousin IF you plan on living in Appalachia OR plan on voting in a red state.

wot do you mean by a red state ?

You're joking, right?
Red = communist, oh, wait, right wing (Republican, conservative, evangelical Christian, etc. etc.) Remember all of the maps for the US preidential election(s)? You must have seen them. You probably aren't too interested in this place if you haven't. Are you sure you wanna come here? :)

It's lax attitudes like yours why we have the mess we have with illegal immigration. Sure marry your cousin, bribe an official, sneak accross the Rio Grande..do whatever you can and screw the law right?

High taxes, hatred of religion, embrace of gay marriage, hatred of military, blame America for everything wrong in the world...as a Brit the OP will feel at home I think.

Aw, heck dark blood, just come on over, settle in the Grayton Beach area, we'll hoist a few and discuss our (still) unmarried daughter. Rest is up to y'all.
