Hotel Diva

In searching for new places for Jcooke and I to take our "funnymoons", I came across Hotel Diva in San Fransisco. Anyone know anything about it???

I stayed there a year or so ago and especially liked the very contemporary design of the furnishings. The location is partly good, partly so-so: just a block or so from Union Sq, but also on the edge of a seedy section of the city. Plenty of ragtag-looking people around, but I never felt in any way threatened.

Lots of places to eat nearby and a Starbucks adjacent to the lobby, but when I was there the only room service available was from the California Pizza kitchen next door.

I did not really like the hotel. It is like a very downscale version of the W. However, the rates usually represent good value and I have no problem with the location.

We've stayed there twice, and I like it. Downscale yes, but to me the decor is soothing and restful. (Not as downscale as their sister "Personality" hotel, the Kensington Court. Yechh on the rooms, but the concierge is super.)

Thanks for your opinions! Now I just have to get out to SFO before deciding where I want to stay!

Really tho, the hotel just struck an interest in me and I wanted some opinions before I put flying out there at the top of my summer travel list.

I stayed in Oakwood on the same street from it five years ago. It goes for the W look, but the rooms were extremely small IIRC. It had decent prices and is centrally located. The Clift is accross the street, so the area isn't that bad!
