bachelor party location recommendations

Any good ideas out there? The boys are located all over the place: Chicago, Boston, DC, Virginia, London, etc. We could do the Vegas thing but it's a little played and none of us are all that thrilled with the place.

Any other ideas, particularly internationally? I was thinking Portugal in the summer could be really fun. We'll want to play a little golf and do the usual activities.

Amsterdam is quite a place for a bachelor party. Or one of the larger Greek islands, like Crete.

The whole golf aspect makes this hard to answer.

Best bachelor party I have been to was in NYC. Many wall street guys with too much money to burn. Great meal to start the night, then off to a huge suite at the Waldorf where some hired entertainment stopped by. A few hours there then out the door and into a stretch Humvee to tour the city - highlight was a stop in Times Square to meet the tourists. Then off to several more clubs after that. Ended the night with breakfast at the Stage deli. Hard to beat. But for golf you would have to leave the city unless the range at Chelsea piers counts.

I am also planning a bachelor party right now and considering Amsterdam. But not sure about golf over there. If going international, I suggest Rio. Awesome place... all the right environmentals for a bachelor party... and they have golf courses too.

And if staying local in DC, Millstream Inn in Woodlawn all the way!

Current hotspots for european bachelor parties are, Prague, Barcelona and Dublin. Lisbon is a perfectly good choice too.

Being the golf nut that I am...I'd vote for someplace "golfy" that also has other entertainment options avialable.

A short list in no particular order...

* Myrtle Beach
* Atlantic City area
* Alabama's Jones Golf Trail
* Florida ?!?!?
* New Orleans!!!
* Pinehurst area in NC (not necessarily Pinehurst itself...so much other GREAT golf)
* The "crown jewel"...either Scotland or Ireland

...told you I was a NUT! :D

Two off the beaten path suggestions which would be very memorable.
1. Honolulu. Nightlife is really starting to pick up, plus people could do beach, golf, hike, drink. Whatever they would like. Plenty of airline service and a walkable (crawlable) downtown. I was there in October and didn't find it terribly expensive.
2. Reykjavik, Iceland (refer to the KEFfest thread in Mileage Run for more details). One of the funkiest places I have ever been. SUPERB nightlife, especially in the summer when it is daylight the entire time. Also you can golf at midnight, how cool is that? The Blue Lagoon spa is a great way to relax (read: sober up) before your return flight. Only drawback is expense. Icelandair flies direct from JFK, BOS, MPS, and BWI.

Can't speak to them all, but I would agree on Myrtle Beach. Lots of courses. Some quality adult entertainment. Lots of accomodation and dinner options. The beach for sleeping off a hangover the next day.

Costa Rica !

Go to Costa Rica my friend.

I have contacts who can hook up everything you could want. Stay a few nights in San Jose and then head to the beach, wrap it up back in San Jose.

Beach, Fishing, Hiking, Women, Coffee Tours, Rain Forrest Tours, Women, Golf, did I mention the Women.

US currency goes a long way in Costa Rica. Check out TACA airlines for the DC flight.

There are a few websites out there that go into detail about the women and great fun single men have when visiting.

I can point you in the right direction if you like, just email me.

easy choice...Reykjavik for sure

I spent most of two years living in Iceland, and can absolutely endorse Reykjavik. Somebody recommended it earlier, and they have the right idea. The nightlife is amazing, the women are jaw droppingly beautiful, the clubs are open damn near all night (or at least until 6ish). And if you're there in the summer, it's light all night long. There's midnight golf, the blue lagoon is worth seeing, and if you're into this, there is a scuba company that does some pretty crazy dives near the international airport at Keflavik. And if you feel so inclined, heading up north to Akureyri could be worth it. There is some pretty good partying to be done up there, and dozens of things worth seeing.

I like some of the suggestions but aren’t bachelor parties quick trips? Tough to get all the guys together for more then a quick weekend which rules out many international locations.

That being said Costa rica or Rio are great choices. Loads of trouble down there to get into. I know a group out of Miami that went to Costa Rica for a great weekend I missed. However its quick trip from Miami. Vegas is tired but true. Never heard anyone "complain" about the bad time they had in Vegas for their Bachelor party. South Beach/Miami is another great option with all night partying, beach, golf, and great "adult entertainment". My brother did New Orleans which is another great city for debauchery. ;)

Europe sounds nice but seems impractical unless all your friends have lots of money/miles and/or time to take of for at least 4-5 days.

It’s hard enough to coordinate busy people for a weekend. That’s why Vegas always is so often the choice. You can get in real late on Friday and party all night without taking off Friday from work. South Beach is sort of like that too. :)
Good luck with the choice.

Rio can work but;

The flights are long, its expensive, and you need a tourist visa.

I'm telling you Costa Rica is the place to go for a long weekend with your friends. The women are beautifull and come from Columbia, Panama, Domminica, Nicaguara. ask anyone who has been to the Del Rey hotel and spent time in the Blue Marlin bar, they are top shelf and most speak decent english.

regarding RIO

yes its like an 8 hour flight, but its many times overnight.
there is a like $100 visa but then you are good for 5 years.

yes there is a lot to do *ahem* in Rio for a bachelor party.

plus you don't switch time zones.

Montreal

We did a BP in Montreal in August; it's a great city and a great place IMHO. We did an Expos game (guess that's out of the question now), then just took to the town the remaining nights. We had our fill of gentleman's clubs and found some of the regular nighttime equally if not more entertaining. All kinds of bars/clubs, from plain to trendy. Metro system makes getting around the city easy, but everything is really in walking distance if you stay downtown (we stayed at the Sheraton 4 points I believe). Good times indeed.

Just had one in NYC last weekend, it was great.. GCT Hyatt for two nights which was the center of the city.. a few locals to guide us around and set up the stops.. can't complain with NYC for a BP

What month? That would help for suggestions.
