US Airways - are you worried?
Is anyone still flying US Airways? I was at DTW a week ago and their ticketing area seemed spookily quiet. Is it the same other places?

OT.
I run NoAds, which kills the US Air popups. And the US Air popups have the identical window title as this topic.
So, when I open this topic, NoAds closes my FlyerTalk window.
Now there's no way that the OP could have figured this out.

here are there people still fly US, yes
I've noticed the fares on US have gone down considerably - so much so that when booking my flight to BOS for this Friday, the corporate travel agent made me book US because it was almost 75% cheaper than flying on AA.
Of course, this makes sense, since you would want a 75% discount to fly a prop plane instead of mainline upgradable aircraft....
I pray US goes out of business ASAP. I've never had a good experience with them. Ever.

I know what you mean
I've flown them once transatlantic and put quite simply they offered the poorest service I've experienced. I do like their little Embraers though, if an aircraft could ever be described as 'nippy' then this would be it.
But yeah. I don't see them going out of business a loss to the industry.

Sort of..
Well, I am now that I'm burning through the last of my US miles..
Actually, I was on an award ticket down to Houston this weekend from DC and the flight was oversold and they were asking for people to take bumps (I couldn't unless I wanted an angry girlfriend on my hands..). My guess is that this isn't the norm and it was because it was columbus day weekend which all of the gov't employees here in DC get off.
I hadn't flown them in a long time and was pleased to find incredibly comfortable seats in Y on one leg of the flight. Go figure.
My mom's office issued a notice today to all employees as follows. I imagine a lot of companies are doing the same adn people are avoiding US as a result.
"...our recommendation is to continue to book US Airways at this time but to make sure you make your business-related reservations with a credit card and, if at all possible, an American Express card. Whether using an Amex corporate card or the central bill account at American Express Travel, American Express cards offer you the best protection against a financial loss should US Airways cease operations.
We will continue to update you on this matter if the situation changes. Please share this information with your travelers by forwarding this email or directing them to the Travel Office website..."
Now my dilemma is that I have ~13,000 in US miles left over adn no idea what to do with them. Any way to burn them on a magazine subscription or anything?
peace,
~Ben~

What is with the "I had a bad experience on US Airways, so I want them to go out of business"? If you had a bad experience on them, then don't fly them! Criminy, leave the rest of us alone.
I have taken several flights on AA, Delta and US Airways in the last two months. All three airlines had delayed flights, and of the three, AA and Delta tied for #1 at how hard they suck at dealing with them.
On my delayed US Airways flight bound for CLT, they turned the late inbound 737 in 30 minutes. Sometimes Delta can't even finish boarding a 737 in 30 minutes, yet US turned the plane almost as fast as Southwest.

I guess I was a little harsh. Still if they did go, it'd mean more chance of survival for the rest.
