Luggage Theft
Luggage theft, how often does it happen? I'm going home over christmas and will probably have some semi-expensive christmas presents in my checked luggage. Should I be concerned?
|
I've only had something taken once in all the years, that was in August from Air France at Kennedy.
If you can carry them on or ship them it may be better. |
In most cases, lock your luggage and you should be fine. If you are really concerned, ask for luggage insurance when you check in.

Thanks for the advice. I use a backpack, so locking it is unfortunately not an option. I will try to stuff everything into my carry-on if possible.

There are two types of luggage: carry-on and lost (or stolen).
Ship your gifts beforehand. Safer and more reliable. |

Anyway, I will stuff all valuables in my carry-on and only check in dirty laundry. Real dirty...that'll teach 'em to leave my luggage alone. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...um/biggrin.gif |
Checked baggage is subject to theft.
