waiting to be called for standby
Several times (on several different airlines)I requested to be placed on standby. The GA said she would call me when (and if) a seat was available. After watching most of the plane board, I finally approached the GA to ask if I have a seat. The general response is: "I have your boarding pass, I was waiting for you to pick it up." I did't want to be a "pest" so I waited; if they say they will call you why don't they?
Have others encountered this problem? |
They've always called me by name or they've said "All standbys will get on - please come retrieve your boarding passes."
Usually it's a very last-minute thing, so I can understand that "I don't want to be a pest" feeling... You are just hanging out there, itching to ask them but not wanting to be so annoying that they "lose" your boarding pass. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...orum/smile.gif Perhaps the agent made some announcement about standbys that you didn't hear? |
Isn't Delta posting standy pax names (partial name) on those snazzy plasma displays at the gates? After I verify the flight info on the display, I never much pay attention to the names that show up there.
