I need all FT help here... My son has become very interested in flying... I am certain I had nothing to do with it! In any event, he has challenged himself to fly on as many Boeing aircraft, as possible. He knows the 707 is pretty much out. But there are several 727s still out there. Does anyone know of any commercially operated ones... that are not in Africa? http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...orum/smile.gif

I appreciate any help or thoughts!

Less than a year ago, he could have flown on a Delta 727. Just a little too late now, I'm afraid!

For someone who likes to fly, I would suggest trying to fly as many different aircraft types as possible. I prefer Boeing aircraft as well, but you have to be realistic about what's still out there.

In addition to flying the following types that are currently in service in the US ...

737-200
737-300
737-400
737-500
737-700 (I can't find a -600 in the US)
737-800
737-900
717
747 (the -400 is basically the same as the earlier ones, though the others might still be out there)
757-200
757-300
767-200
767-300
767-400
777 (different versions if wish)
A319
A320
A321
A330
A340
A300
DC-9 (various series if wish)
DC-10 (hurry, they're going fast)
MD-11 (also hurry)
F100
CRJ (barf)
ERJ
FRJ
Dornier 328 (turboprop version of FRJ)
Dash-8 (some versions exist)
B1900
EMB-120
Saab340
J31/J41

... he can also fly to lots of different airports http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...orum/smile.gif

How many U.S. airports have you been in while flying commercially?

Your right JS, there are no 737-600's in the US...to get on a 736 one's best bet would be SAS in Europe...

747 NW has -200s and -400s. UA only has -400s currently?

777 Only -200s in the U.S.

Add A318 (Frontier)

A320 These are -200. There are some -100s but I don't think any are in the U.S. (these ones don't have the wingtip fences).

A330

There's the -300 operated by US and NW (US was the first to operate 330s in the U.S.) (NW will be getting -200s next year)

A340 No U.S. airlines operating these. 4 versions.

A300 - Add A310 (no U.S. passenger airlins still operating these?)

DC-9 (various series if wish)
DC-10 (hurry, they're going fast) 3 versions of which only 1 still operates in the U.S.
MD-11 (also hurry)
F100
CRJ (barf) at least 3 versions
ERJ at least 2 versions
FRJ
Dornier 328 (turboprop version of FRJ)
Dash-8 (some versions exist)
-100, -200, -300 & -400.

B1900

Two versions. Best one is the low fuselage original.

Do you know which airlines fly the low ceiling version? All I see is B1900D (expanded headroom).

As noted by a previous poster, Pan Am also still flies the 727-200 in regular commercial service on its "long haul" flights (J31 on the short-haul).

I don't know. I've never flown in a B1900D, just B1900s and not for a long time.

Just more addenda. I'm not sure if any commuter airlines are still flying them but various Shorts, Fokker F27/50 & F28/70s, Swearingen Metros have to be added.

I'll agree. But why limit your self to airplanes used by commerical airlines? And why limit your self to airports that have commercial airline service??

JS Nov 19, 2003 7:00 pm

Because the commercial version is cheaper and more challenging than just renting a plane. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...orum/smile.gif
