What is the earliest flight you ever took
What is the earliest flight you ever took, in terms of local departure time? Where was it too?
|
Lets see...5:30am to Atlanta from RSW or was it to CLT om either DL or US
Same time flights regularly out of TPA destination MSP also same time flights from BTV. I regularly pick 1st flight as you fare better for rest of day getting to your setination. I don't think have ever flown before 5:30 |
I did a 5:30 OMA-MSP flight in 12/2001. I was on my way home, so getting up at 5:30 to get as early as possible was a good decision!

ELP-DFW-BWI. Many moons ago, at 3:00 a.m.
It was cheap http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...orum/smile.gif But it think this belongs in TravelBuzz! ------------------ ================== Moderator: OMNI and S.P.A.M. |
sudan airways at 4:15am - if that counts as a monring departure.

I took Singapore Airlines Flight 1 a couple weeks ago. Departed 1:45 a.m. from SFO, enroute to Hong Kong then Singapore. There are probably a few other post-midnight flights I've taken if I think about it. Or would these count as the "latest" flights?
|
Do just past midnight flights count? I know I've done at least SEA-IAH and RNO-YVR between midnight and 0100 and LAS-YVR at similar times.
Otherwise just past 0600 for NW BKK-NRT (especially with international security and exit controls) and CO RNO-DEN. |
My earliest flight is LAX-ATL departing 1:10 AM. My latest flight is LAX-ATL departing 11:45 PM.
Given the number of red-eyes that depart around midnight, maybe a more interesting question would be: Who has taken the latest flight before 3:00 AM? (I picked 3:00 AM just to disqualify jfe http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/wink.gif ) ------------------ "Where's my money?" -- Pizza the Hutt |
June 18th, 1998 Air Canada Flight LAX-YYZ-YSJ departing 6:00 A.M., arriving (due to a delay) at midnight (local time)!
Boy was I tired; and I had people to impress after landing. Next earliest flight was at 6:30am, LAX-SJC late last year. ------------------ Best regards, Dairenn Lombard Los Angeles, CA |
I've taken three 6:30-6:45am flights out of Chicago (one from MDW, two from O'Hare) returning home to LGA, making the most out of long weekend visits to my sister and family. Went straight to the office after all of them. My brother-in-law actually gets up and out of the house that early, so was no problem with him driving me there. <g>
However, none of those were the earliest I've had to go to the airport (really only got there an hour or slightly under before the flight - before 9/11). That honor would go to the time I had to be at JFK at 5AM for a day flight to London! Latest flight would have been an 11:50PM redeye LAS-JFK. Earliest (latest?) arriving flight will be the one I take in three weeks - CX JFK-YVR, arriving 1:45am local time. [This message has been edited by MelP (edited 08-07-2003).] |
12:50 am ANC/SEA

At first glance, this one may not seem that impressive....but given the circumstances it was definitely the earliest overall flight experience I ever had prepare for:
August 1990 Pan Am Tel Aviv to Paris Departure 6:00 am Mandatory 3:00 am check in First busses get to the airport around 5, so I had to take the last bus the night before. Got there at 11:30, had to wait til 3:00 to check in. I thought it would be a waste of time checking in at 3:00. Despite being one of the first in line I was subjected to incredible security scutiny (I was a college kid backpacking). I barely made my 6:00 flight...after being interrogated for at least 2 hours. And the kicker: they couldn't believe that a 19yr old college kid (blonde hair, blue eyed honkie) would have accumulated enough miles to earn a free ticket to Israel...that's what set off the initial interrogation. Absolute nightmare. Made the coach service in the twilight of good ole Pan Am seem like the lap of luxury. ------------------ AA PLT |
Actually, I just checked my itinerary (yes, I save all that stuff)....
...it wasn't August 1990. It was September 11, 1990. Weird coincidence. Too bad the guys in Boston weren't as vigilent as the guys in Tel Aviv. |
Several redeyes ANC/SEA within an hour of midnight.
