Do airlines hat FlyerTalk?
Has anyone noticed any negative reaction from the airlines in regards to Flyer Talk?
Any reaction to FT T-shirts or such? |
I seriously doubt it. They probably don't mind it anymore than Honda minding any Honda forums out there...
|
I once had an airline agent (not knowing I was a regular FlyerTalker) mention to me about "those FlyerTalk freaks" in the middle of a general discussion about Frequent Flyers.
At that point, I did the only honest and honorable thing I could... I agreed with her! http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/wink.gif |

And people who used to be Freaks, and thought they were freaks, but decided to stop being Freaks, and eventually discovered they weren't relatively freaky to begin with. FT can really freak me out, no doubt about that. |
Should I remove my Flyertalk luggage tags????? http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/wink.gif

I would guess that about 99 percent of all airline employees have no idea what FlyerTalk is. I don't think it matters one way or the other if you use FT luggage tags.
|
I witnessed an "incident" a few months ago. The person ahead of me had a FT tag on his garment bag. He put the bag on the scale and before he could unclip the shoulder strap the agent started lecturing him. It was a snippy, "You should know better and if anything happened to it you would blame us and tell everyone how we mishandled your bag." His response was a polite, "Thanks, I just didn't do it yet."
The only good thing was that I asked him about FT. He admitted to being a lurker who had gained alot of knowledge from the boards. I think the wisdom of this group outweighs a few snippy comments. |
I have had high level contacts with various USA airlines and I believe that the execs don't hate FlyerTalk.
|
Why should they hate FT?
In general, FTers are courteous, easy to deal with, and certainly knowledeable. I think if anything, airline employees APPRECIATE travellers that are savvy and know "the drill" as it were. Its the ignorant, nervous, once-a-year types that irritate the airline employees. If everyone was an FTer, flying would be much easier all around. Just my two cents http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...orum/smile.gif ------------------ "I just wanna wish you good luck, we're all counting on you" -Dr. Rumack |
For airlines, Flyer Talk is a free source of valuable customer opinions.

Thanks for all the great posts. I have heard that some airlines and hotels think FT is part of some kind of conspiracy theory where we all get together to find ways to take advantage of them. This is just my opinion of the different things that I have heard.

Given the state of the industry, the Airlines need "flyers" and don't really care whether or not they "talk" http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...orum/smile.gif

I know that some airline employees use the boards to get more understanding of their own company.
I see this happening at the airline club lounges. When it is not busy the greeters are reading the FT boards. I usually mention to these greeters I am a FT reader as poster. I usually ask them to post as well. |
