I can answer SEA. They are performing random checks of cars approaching the airport.

If travelling on Metro or SoundTransit, they are dropping off and picking up outside the airport grounds on International Drive. A shuttle bus then runs you in and out, or you can walk to the terminal (faster).

How much American taxpayer dollars do you think was spent to devise this color-coded alert system?</font>
I would imagine Accenture made a pretty penny on this one. The entire deparment of homeland security is a consultant's wet dream. And don't even get me started on the Buarue of Industry and Security (are we in China?)

As for the amber alert it is named after a girl who was kidnapped and klled, and not a killer

I prefer Orange Julius.

I am glad you do, Rut Dog.

And please don't call me Julius.

Code orange is not so bad, but code red could be a nightmare:

Code red would severely restrict the ability to travel relatively efficiently:

"...a ban on parking within 300 feet of an airport terminal, search of every vehicle proceeding to a terminal and the elimination of cargo on all passenger flights. Passengers may be required to check in at least three hours before a flight and shouldn't be allowed to carry laptop computers..."
</font>
So how do I get my laptop home if Code Red is declared while I'm away? And what's this obsession with laptops anyway?

cordelli Mar 29, 2003 4:30 pm

The quote is not from somebody stating the rules, just what he thinks it should be, so laptops may still be OK.

Even if not, FedEx makes a great laotop shipping box.....

Maybe I am mistaken, but isn't Accenture a spinoff of Arthur Andersen?

Arthurrs Mar 30, 2003 8:45 pm

Oh, great, so I'm going to trust the baggage gorillas (think old Samsonite commercial) with my $3,000 notebook computer? I-don't-think-so! On some trips I carry two laptops, along with some very expensive acoustical test gear. Such extreme measures will hardly be tolerated by the flying public. Not that many people own Panasonic toughbooks!
