Beaches

Rented Black Hawk Down the other night, in which a soldier says of the Red Sea beaches near Mogadishu, "The beach is so beautiful, makes you feel like it'd be a good place to travel to, if it weren't here."

What are the three most beautiful beaches?

By the way, great movie. I believe that it was filmed in Morrocco.

NO WONDER! I watched it with my roommate, thinking it was filmed in Somalia, and I remember telling him, "Mogadishu looks just like Casablanca." I guess that's because it WAS Casablanca...

Here is my #1 choice (where we started our honeymoon 13 years ago) has to be Noosa Heads

My #2 choice has to be Burleigh Heads

My #3 is Whitehaven Beach on Whitsunday Island (near where we concluded our honeymoon). There is no better white silica sand beach anywhere in the world. Just a little hard to get to, and to spend any tome there.

Whitehaven Beach looks gorgeous! The more I troll around FT, the more I can see myself getting on a plane and traveling the 26 hours or so to Australia/New Zealand.

I think it really depends on each individual person. I might like a beach better because of the experiences I have had there. However, I see shows on tv all the time that talk about the best beaches in the world. Here's a link to one of them...

Yes, Whitehaven is wonderful. But it is well protected (by the Great Barrier Reef) so there is no surf. Once you get much north of Gladstone, the waves are generally very tame. So if you like surf beaches, stay around the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast, which are about 1 hour south and north of Brisbane respectively.

Make the effort and spend the time to get down here and experience the wonders of some of the best beaches around.

Anything on Mount Desert Island in Maine. Give me a rocky coast with rolling fog anytime! Nature at its best.
