That is cheap! It sounds/looks like you get what you pay for with these internet cafes. I have only been to one internet cate, it was in SFO. It was full on sandwich resturaunt and a coffee shop as well. Kind of a cross between Einstiens and Starbucks, but without the begals. Anyhow, it cost me $10 an hour for an internet connection there and I was even using my own computer!

I used two of the Easyeverything Cafes in AMS when I was there in December. The one in the train station required a 5NLG purchase and always seemed to be pretty busy. There is another one just kittycorner from the flowermarket that only required a 2.5NLG ticket. I was there at about 5am and was getting 288 minutes for my 2.5 guilder (about one US dollar) The most expensive I saw was the when the train station cafe had 77 minutes for the 5 Guilder ticket.

I've hit the one in NYC TimesSq. and one of 'em in AMS.

The only one they had in Rome last year was located at the bottom of the Via Veneto in the Piazza Barberini. It is the piazza with the Tritan fountain and right down the road from the Marriott where we stayed. We thought it was wonderful. We were able to get on a computer at any time of day. You could buy a ticket for 6000 lire (about $3 US). It kept track of the time left automatically every time you logged on and off. I'd check the website listed above as they may have added new locations since last May.

I think the trevi fountain location is the only one in Rome

If you don't want to schlep that far, there are other internet cafes on the other side of the via dei corso - netgate near via della scrofa and bibli in trastevere.

The easy everything is by a really good gelateria - gelateria san crispino, just don't ask for a cone!

Is the pricing relatively new? I used one of the branches in London a few summers ago, and you paid based on how long you wanted to surf. However, the rates changed based on the time of day. I think it was 1 pound/hour for off peak, and 2 pounds/hour for peak.

However, I am getting some good suggestions and plan to improve the site often. Currently, there is a coupon for $10 off entertainment books, and links to all the priceline sites.

In the last year I've used them in Amsterdam, Paris, Munich, London(Kensington and Victoria), Glasgow, and NYC that I can recall right off, and it's always been based on supply and demand. I was in London and Paris last month, and in New York City last weekend, and it was still the same (not to say that it may have changed somewhere else). Basically, if they're busy you'll get less time with whatever currency you are using, and if they're not busy you get more time. I don't know how far back this pricing strategy goes, as I've only been using them for the last year or two.

Look on the website listed above for Rome. The only one in Rome is at the Piazza Barberini. There is none right by the Trevi fountain. Piazza Barberini is about a 10-15 minute walk from the Trevi. Even if you don't want to walk, remember that taxis are very inexpensive in Rome (other than from the airport). If you walk up the road (turn right as you leave the Easyeverything) you will come upon the Palazzo Barberini. It is a great area to wander in too. If you are staying over the river near Vatican City, this would not be convenient for you at all.

I could have sworn I saw an orange easyeverything cafe near the trevi - past it, but not as far as piazza barberini.

There, it must have moved - now you can have everything your heart desires in one place, mickeyd's, easyeverything and planet hollywood (if it finally opened) right there.

I have to admit, I never towards piazza barberini unless I'm church hopping or in desperate need to see a bernini fountain.

Used the one in Paris a few months ago when there. Our kids loved getting on and chatting with their friends back in the states. "Hey, OMG, I'm in Paris!!!" LOL It was lots of fun, for me and them (I logged on to FlyerTalk from Paris, of course!) One Paris location (don't know if there are others) is in St. Germain district, right off of the Place St. Michel. Very convenient, as we were about 3 blocks away, at the Citadines St. Germain.

Does anyone know if they allow you to hook your laptop into their high speed. I might have to transfer some files back to my office and would like to do that if possible?

I don't think that you can hook-up your laptop; they have a program running at their stations/terminals to log-in.
I have seen that people use a floppy-disc to exchange data.
High-speed? I don't know about this. At Easy Everything in Amsterdam and London (Kensington), the connection was NOT very fast. That was about a year ago.

Can you shrink-wrap a Blood Pressure monitor? My doc says I have to take my pressure everyday for the next 2 weeks, including the 5 days at my DH's conference in Orlando. My fflyer hubby only believes in carry-on. One small roller and one shoulder bag each. Even for Europe. He swears there won't be any trouble getting this checked in. I see myself being arrested for trying to bring bomb making apparatus onboard. If I am I'll give my name as lorra, so maybe one of you will recognize me.
