When are you flying next?
I'm on a plane this Sunday. The hell with Bin Laden and his goons.
I'm not going to let that ******* dictate to me what I can do with my life. How bout the rest of you? |

I'm in Rio de Janeiro right now and am flying to CDG/Paris in 5 hours on AF441.
It will be my first flight on an A340 and also on Air France. I don't plan to change my flying habits because of what has happened....or what may happen in the future. [This message has been edited by Carioca Canuck (edited 09-25-2001).] |
I will continue to fly, but much less. But not out of fear from terrorists. But for so many other reasons. It appears that our government does not want us to fly. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...ML/006157.html |
I have four flights this week, four flights next week, and six flights (including a couple trans-con flights on 767s) a couple weeks later.
I will never be afraid to travel in my country. |
I flew AA LGA to RDU on the 21st; will be returning AA RDU/ORD/HPN on the 31st.
|
I will fly again when common sense has the seat across the aisle and NoStressHere is sitting in from of me. The ever increasing list of items banned under the guise of increased "security measures" borders on the ridiculous and I will not buy a ticket nor use my FF miles to support the airlines.

A week from Friday - I'll see how it goes. If 12,000 miles of flying is unpleasurable in its entirety, I may take the rest of the year off, as I'll have 1K for 2002.
[edited because the author has apparently forgotten what year it really is.) [This message has been edited by Eastbay1K (edited 09-25-2001).] |
Singapore! I'm headed off in 2 weeks for some good food, new sights, sounds and smells for a week.
|
Tomorrow - London & Amsterdam, and a drive to Wales, we hope. Always wanted to see 'the Village'.
But you know what? When I let myself think about it, I'm terrified. I'm trying to think of it as getting back on the horse again, once I do it the first time, I'll be ok, but right now, I don't know if my partner & I are trying to talk ourselves into or out of going. |
Already flew an R/T to YYZ last week, with another one coming up 10/5 (for Canadian Turkey Day), and PHX 10/16.
I just hope they get DCA open again soon as getting out to BWI is a *pain*. Oh yeah, and a nice birdie for bin Laden. |
I'm on my way to Hong Kong on Monday via an overnight in SJC. I'm too close to ExP to stop now. I have 82,996 miles and after I get back on 10/8 I'll only need about 1800 to go over 100,000. I'm going to HKG from NRT with a reward ticket in First on CX so I'll only get credit for the miles to NRT. Sure wish AA hadn't dropped the TPE run. It made a wonderful mileage run.
I feel if we all cancel our travel plans the terrorists will have won. That's just my personal feeling on it. Chris |
Off to Puerto Rico on the 11th!!!! http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...orum/smile.gif

I hope you and your patner decided to go and that you are now enjoying London! |
I flew last week to Vegas, and I must admit, I was definitely scared for the first few minutes of the flight. But we can't let these terrorist attacks make us fearful to fly. The airport crews & security people have been so patient through all of this. kudos to them! Now, I'm going to go ahead with booking flights home for the upcoming holidays.

Went to Las Vegas On September 15. A little scary at first, but then I settled down. Will fly as often and as soon as I can....

bbinchi & yyz-den, Hello from Amsterdam. As you can see we did decide to go. SFO was like a ghost town. I was in tears thoughout takeoff, combination of sheer terror and incredible sadness. There was some unsettling seat shifting involving two men of middle eastern looks and two men who were so friendly with the flight crew I assumed they were non-rev or some kind of informal security. They ended up with the exit row seats and the mid-east men got shifted elsewhere. After that, all was smooth, and I settled down.
Security at LHR was much tighter than SFO. We came right to AMS (which has me completely charmed), we go back to LHR tomorrow and drive to Wales, and then to London later in the week. I had cancelled all our hotels when it looked as if we would cancel the whole trip, so we're doing this by the seat of our pants. Well, maybe I should save this for a trip report. Just wanted to say, we did it and all's well so far. Sue |
My wife & I will be flying to Egypt oct. 8 th
My wife is a little unsettled with it but the adventurer in me says GO ! While in Cairo we then fly to Hurgada. I don't think that Egyptian Air will be kicking anyone off that looks of Arabian descent! The wife & I might be the only ones left on the plane. PS Oct 8th is when the US & some other countries are scheduled to start playing moc war games in the Egyptian desert. [This message has been edited by JBJB (edited 09-30-2001).] |
Vegas on 10-12 and I can't wait! Flew a short hop on AS from SEA to GEG last week and walked away feeling real good about the experience. Added security, obviously, but we left on time and arrived early. It is like falling off a horse, and I needed to get back on! Glad I did.

I flew today (Sunday 9/30)on a morning non-stop SFO-PHL on UA.
SFO today was bustling at 6 AM. Long, long lines at the UA counters in the lobby. I skipped those as I had only carry-on. Security check-in lines no longer than usual, though the procedures were somewhat more thorough. I had arrived two hours in advance of departure, but this turned out to be unnecessary without checked luggage. The flight was about half-full. Everything was very smooth and uneventful. Food was served -- only difference being the plastic knives. Upon arrival in PHL, I saw an enormously long security line for the terminal. (So I might indeed have to arrive two hours in advance for my departure from PHL.) Kathy |
Just returned from my second trip since the attack. What a hassle. Yes, we will fly again, but much less. Why? - because the first 15 rows of the parking garages are blocked - silly - security would not let me through with nail clippers - at Montgomery, AL airport, they go though your trunk if you want to use short term parking. Silly - They make it harder to get on the plane by making everyone go to the main ticket counter - You can not sit at the curb waiting to pick someone up - You are at risk of having just about anything confiscated at the security checkpoint - they are limiting or eliminating food service - I can no longer take my little cork screw on a trip with me - You can no longer meet someone at the gate, or even escort your Mother to the gate. - At LAX you have to park in a field and take a shuttle to the main terminal - We can not even get National airport open. The Federal Government is working very hard to finish off the airlines as we know it. And lets be honest folks, none of these rules make any sense and I am sure Bin Laden and his cronies are sitting here watching this and amazed at what we are doing without his help. "Sanity has left the terminal" |
In STL right now - Shreveport, LA airport was a hassle, but a small price to pay for a little piece of mind. Going to DFW next week - then SFO next month. I was a little apprehensive - but I'm still safer in one of these planes than in my own car. I'm with Rudi and W. and I'm getting back to work and on with my life.

Flying EWR-BUF (weekend in Niagara Falls) this weekend and EWR-CLE-DTW next weekend. My sweetie already flew CZM-LGA just two weeks after WTC. He said that the flight was only about 30% full and it actually arrived at LGA one hour early! We are taking advantage of the $80 fares to BUF right now to accumulate some miles toward Gold.
