Amsterdam Hotel

Do you have any Amersterdam hotels that you could recommend for the weekend in late March. Close to tourist sites and reasonable prices would be great. Thanks.

The sheraton Pulitzer

The Sheraton Pulitzer is rather pricy. What are you looking to spend and how nice of a hotel do you want. If you have no limit, go with the Pulitzer, or maybe the Sofitel or SwissHotel. The SwissHotel and Sofitel are right on tram lines and only a 10 minute walk from Centraal Station.

I agree that the Pulitzer is very pricey, but it is one of the nicest hotels in Amsterdam. I think the Amstel Intercontinental is probably a bit better, but it is more expensive (I think) and the location is definitely not as good.

The Pulitzer is just a block away from Anne Frank House, about a twenty minute walk from Centraal station (Do you think American Airlines named that train station? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif).

My cousin and I are at the Crowne Plaza out by the airport the 23rd/24th. The rate was too good to pass up, 160 NLG (US$66) for two doubles (instead of two twins) and breakfast.

I'm looking to spend max of $150 per night and would prefer somewhere in the city.

The Inntel and Sofitel are smack dab in the middle of everything, clean and modern, within a 10-minte walk from the station, on a tram line, and reasonably-priced.

The Swissotel, mentioned previously, is also a good choice.

Note that many downtown Amsterdam hotels go somewhat against the typical city model: they're often more expensive and harder to get on weekends.

Has anyone stayed at IBIS Amsterdam Stopera ?
I'm wondering are they clean and close to museums? Good or Bad ?

I agree with Belle. I was in Amsterdam last weekend and stayed at the Hilton using their Three nights for the price of two and really enjoyed to property. It is south of the main city area but only a fifteen minute walk. The hotel staff was excellent and the hotel was great. Using the Three nights for the price of two my room was only $100 per night for a club room floor

I stayed at the SAS Radisson last year in July, and the rooms were very nice. Right in the middle of the town centre.

If I remember the price was around 450NLG.

I like the Golden Tulip Amsterdam center or the Marriott (next door) both on the Leidsiplein and reasonably priced.

PremEx Feb 18, 2001 7:22 pm

Golden Tulip has a good location next to the harbor and other sites, and it's not too pricey. But those open porn channels that keep popping up while you're channel surfing just to get to CNN...??? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
